Title: Blizzard PPC SCSI and OS4.0
Post by: flaviosr on April 20, 2008, 12:15:29 PM
Hi to all,

I have a Blizzard 603+ but the SCSI controller does not work well... probably I have simply to change the cable...
I would also like to install OS4.0 but I read that it does not work with Blizzard SCSI...
The question is: for OS4.0 it's better to buy a nice IDE controller (I am using a Mediator PCI... so I cannot use SCSI Zorro controller*) or a new Blizzard 603+ SCSI cable (25€)?!?!?
Writing Blizzard SCSI do they mean the Blizzard SCSI Kit IV only or they include the PPC SCSI controller also?

Thank you

* does exist a PCI (PC) SCSI controller I can use?

Blizzard SCSI kit is only for Blizzard 1230/1240/1260, so OS4 is only relevant for Blizzard 603e+. I'm pretty irritated myself that the Blizzard SCSI controller isn't supported  :-x

Sorry... a "small" problem of language... :(
Do you mean that OS4.0 works with the PPC SCSI and not with the Blizzard SCSI kit (that anyway would be impossible to use since OS4.0 needs a PPC!)...?

blizzard ppc scsi isn't supported by OS4.

blizzard scsi kit usually refers to blizzard 030 MKIV/060 (http://amiga-hardware.com/showhardware.cgi?HARDID=1228) scsi kit, which is totally unrelated, since the boards sporting this kit won't have ppc and won't run os4 anyway.

The SCSI controller of the Blizzard PPC is not supported.

The Blizzard SCSI kit has nothing to do with a Blizzard PPC, it's for a different range of accelerators. There's no meaning in implementing support for a controller that can never be used.

the SCSI controller does not work well.

I had this problem too. I was the 68060 that needed to be resold. I send it JJB / AmigaCenter, now it's ok.

PPC card SCSI doesn't work on OS4?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Whose rubbish idea was that?

So what reason do I have for upgrading from 3.9 then?

MUPPETS!
