Title: Cartoon Creation Software
Post by: AmigaEd on April 11, 2008, 05:20:43 AM: I have a need to create some cartoon panels for a school project.

Are there any recommendations for a good program that can be used to create cartoons?

BTW... I've tried Comicsetter but I am looking for alternatives.

There is a package called Anime Studio Pro that works with Linux.

If you're on Mac/Windows and serious about animation, check out Bauhaus Mirage (an evolution of our TVPaint) at http://www.bauhaussoftware.com/

If you have a Mac, you could also try the legendary LivingCels, made by Creature House (an awesome little software company bought up by Microsoft and utterly FUBAR, rather like Blue Ribbon Soundworks). The software can be freely downloaded for Mac (but not Windows); a download link, documentation and sample movies are available at http://www.livingcels.com

Incidentally, the links page at livingcels.com points to some other interesting and innovative animation software.

Was that coded by the same people who made Disney Animation Studio?

The Disney Animation Studio was good, definately worth picking up if you see a copy for sale, like ebay.. :-D

I think yes. But it was a nice and easy cartoon program.

Post by: sadddam on May 12, 2008, 11:20:44 AM: one of the best software on the amiga for traditional paper animation is Take2. it is a line tester software but can be used for colored animation with sound. i worked with it for years at an animation studio.

i know firka and its precedessor, TestLine. firka is unusable on an amiga, it just too slow for a 68k+aga combo and the author is not see the amiga as a valuable platform anymore since 2000-2001 and not willing to do any updates for it, although i've been asked him several times (in person and in mails).... so dont get excited 'bout firka....
