Title: Wireless Internet
Post by: RMK305 on April 07, 2008, 10:44:59 PM
If I was to install a X-Surf card in my A4000 what other hardware would I need to get it to talk to a wireless router and what sort of prices does it come in at for the extra bits?

How good would a 40Mhz Warpengine with a CV64 3D be on the net?

Thanks,

Robert

What gfx card do you have?

I'm happy browsing net with 060/60 and Voodoo3. Pretty fast on 1280x1024 resolution.

I guess 040 with CV64/3D is usable. Image decoding might not be the fastest, but CV3D in Zorro3 should be pretty snappy for scrolling etc. Just if you remember the limitations of Amiga browsers for displaying the contents.

I have used both the CV64 and CV643D(because i have a scan doubler)on an 68060 @50 mhz.  The 643D is noticeably slower than the 64.  Its not the CPU or the graphics card its the software ie browsers that really make the net experience not enjoyable.
