Post by: Ian-uk on April 05, 2008, 12:23:09 PM
I got a Mediator 1200 TX today. I've added it to my Elbox D-dox and followed the instructions but when i turn it on nothing happens. Any help?

What size PSU in Watts do you have?

Did you connect everything, power, etc. correctly.  Make sure your accelerator card is seated fully and not shorting to anything.

Have you connected the power on cable from the tower to the mediator?

should the atx psu from the mediator power the whole system? don't really want to try the amiga psu plugged in as well, if it's wrong

Yes, it should power everything.

Check for short and check atx switch, it sounds like a short somewhere, does the atx power supply fan start and then stop, if it does theres probably a short or switch may be faulty.
cheers

Is the Mediator seated properly and are the jumpers set correctly?

Pull out the "turbo" card and all the PCI stuff.

How did you turn on the computer before? Check if a power switch is working... (you can use a screwdriver to close the circuit   :-D - the power on Mediator, just touch it both pins at the time...).

Do you have any fun connected to power supply? Or listen the HDD...

Check of Mediator is not bended, in my Mediator was some kind of plastic "feet" under which suppose to be laying on A1200 mobo BUT in my mobo I had some chip which make whole Mediator "go up" so I unscrew it.

I'm sorry for English but in some cases my vocabulary is to poor  :madashell:

Thanks for all your help. I found a old At psu and its running. Only now got another problem the with the floppy drive. I get the boot up screen but it won't read any disks. it looks like it's about to start reading the disc then goes back to boot screen. I have 3 amiga disk drives and 2 amiga 1200 motherboards seem to be having same problem what ever i try

Had the same problem...you must have a power switch connected to the "Power SW " connector.  Look here for more info:

When I first towered my A1200 I had big problems with the floppy drive. Similar problems to yours. Turned out I had screwed it in too tightly! Some of the mechanism of Amiga floppy drives is exposed underneath the drive, so screwing it in too tightly might "brake" it against the tower. So try loosening the screws a bit and see if that fixes it. Better yet take the drive out of the tower (but leave the cables connected) and try it again. Also, double check the cables are all in the correct way round.

I had this problem too and it's very frustrating as it's not made clear in the Mediator book.

You have to have a switch fitted to the Mediator as well as plugging it in. use your ATX power supply but buy and fit a switch too.

I recommend AmigaKit.

I found an old At psu and solved it the power problem. I've used the disk drive from my A600 and the disk drive is running now. not sure why my other drives stopped working during the move to the tower.
