Title: Anyone knows what this is?
Post by: MrZammler on April 05, 2008, 09:28:42 AM
Just got an A2088XT from a friend, and noticed a small pcb with what appears to be crystals, glued on top.

Anyone might know what this is for? A bench I tried still mentions the 8088 running at stock 4.77Mhz

Thanks!

Haven't seen it before. Mine doesn't have it, but your guess about overclocking is what my guess would be as well!

Question is: what do the crystals say?

Oh crap, I thought it was the angle of the photo showing a highly reflective surface (like a mirror).

X-ray glasses? :-)

It's probably a turbo switch or something similar.  I believe the 2088 is overclockable so that's probably a software switchable board to kick in a turbo mode (not that'd make a huge difference nowadays).

They look like clock chips to me for over-clocking as stated.  Can you run the BB and see what clock it's running at?
