Title: OS3.9 Post Install: Will Not Boot Without CD ROM Drive
Post by: crazyegg on March 31, 2008, 04:59:31 PM
Hi,

I just installed OS3.9 successfully on my A1200. Everything works except when I disconnect my IDE CD-Rom (connected as slave to the internal IDE interface).

When the CD-ROM is disconnected, the master IDE hard drive does not boot up.  I just get a purple screen.

I even removed the Emergency Boot Driver from the Devs/DOSDrivers as instructed in the FAQ but still it will not boot.

I want to use my A1200 without the CD-Rom drive attached.  Can someone shed some light on my situation?

Regards,
ed...

Is the purple screen just that (i.e. blank), or does it have the animated disk? Check whether your hard disk has two settings for master (one for "master/single drive" and one for "master with slave present").

Hi,

Thanks for your reply!

It is just a purple blank screen. My HD only has one setting for master and it is correctly set.

Hmmmmmmm....

Hmm no idea what a blank purple screen means. Are you sure it's purple? Here is a web site with all the error colours the Amiga produces:

http://www.amigahistory.co.uk/selftest.html

No purple on there so maybe there's something wrong with your monitor and it's actually a different colour.
