Hi all!
I'm having trouble recognizing a PC format CDR/RW on my A4000. I'm using a GVP SCSI, Asimware 3.9 & Master ISO 2.4
Am I only able to read Amiga format CDs?
Another question if I may, any idea why I can't do a warm reboot?
Thanks

theres a small program that has to be run on pc's in order for them to be able to recognize and read cd-rw's to my knowledge that program doesnt exist for amiga...yet.....as for the not being able to warm boot....ive never had a crash or lockup that was so bad that it wouldnt warm reboot...just hit ctrl and the two "A" keys on either side of the space bar(aka the amiga keys) over an over it only ever takes me 2 or three repeats to reboot, also, it wont work if youy hold down the ctrl and one amiga key and press the other amiga key,,..ive tried many times...=) hope this helps... :-)

Thanks for the quick reply. I was just under the impression that the Amiga software did recognize a PC format CD-R. Guess it's not the same as Cross-DOS (heavy sigh).
As far as the reboot, I am using cntrl A+A, which is why it's so strange. My machine doesn't normally crash, but I noticed it when I was installing software, It tries to reboot, but only a CLI screen comes up. I checked my user-startup, but didn't see anything abnormal.
I guess I can try re-installing the original Startup-Sequence. Thanks again.

itll recognize a cd-r, but not a cd-rw....sounds like the install screwed up or asomething, try removing and reinstalling the program.. :-? :-?

If it can recongnise a CD-R and not a CD-RW you will need to get a new cd-rom drive.
Basically it is because a CD has a highly reflective silver surface whereas a CD-R only reflects about 40-60% of the light (laser) and a CD-RW is something like 20-30%.
Older cd-roms that weren't built for CD-R(W)s in mind aren't sensitive enough to "see" the reflected laser beam, so they assume there is no CD in the drive.
Hope this helps
