CNN is reporting that noted writer and Amiga user Arthur C. Clarke has passed. Here's the blurb from CNN:
'2001' author Arthur C. Clarke dies at age of 90
Science fiction writer Arthur C. Clarke, who co-wrote the epic film "2001: A Space Odyssey" and raised the idea of communications satellites in the 1940s, has died at age 90, an associate confirmed to CNN. Clark died at a hospital in Colombo, Sri Lanka, where he had lived since the 1950s.

At a 90th birthday party thrown for Clarke in December, the author said he had three wishes: for Sri Lanka's raging civil war to end, for the world to embrace cleaner sources of energy and for evidence of extraterrestrial beings to be discovered.

'The grand master of scifi warned Stanley Kubrick: "If you get Vistapro into your computer, you'll never do any more work! It produces images of almost photographic quality.... So i can explore all the interesting places on Mars!" '
I guess Arthur was once a fan of Amiga too, was he not?
May he R.I.P.

Arthur was a well known Amiga fan back in the day, or at least a fan of some of the software. I remember the magazines mentioning it.
-
He was an early email adopter, too. IIRC he started to use it in the early 80s.
-
What is it about Sri Lanka that attracts geniuses? I remember watching an ex-Commodore reunion last year with Chuck Peddle transmitting from somewhere in Sri Lanka back to Dave Haynie and other Commodore guys back in the U.S.

Is this thread just going to list dead people... If so, it's going to get boring, fast...
