Title: WHLoad problems
Post by: Falfa on March 16, 2008, 12:24:45 PM
Hi,

I don't think I'm getting the concept of WHDload.

I've got the LHA on my CF card. I uncompress it with EasyADF to my HDD. Only Install and Docs appear. There are no other files. When I run the install it says Unable to open our tool 'Installer'.

I'm trying to install Dune II, I have downloaded the WHDload DuneII installer and it gives the same message as above

The setup of my A1200 is DH0 is 8mbs, containing Workbench. Second partition is called HD and is 1.4 gbs.

Can someone take me by the hand and help me? I have used Amigas for the total of 72 hours.

Installer can be downloaded from www.aminet.net here (http://aminet.net/util/misc/Installer-43_3.lha).    Unpack it and copy Installer to C:.

Keep in mind WHDLoad installers are just installers, not the games themselves.  In your case you'll need the Dune II floppies as well as the WHDLoad package, and the Dune II WHDLoad Install.

Thanks!

Hadn't seen mnetion of the installer command before.

It is the original of Dune II I have, I know there is an installer built into it, but I am using this game to get my head around WHDLoad.

I'm still getting the unable to open tool installer.

I have used easyadf to uncompress the installer file downloaded from the link above into the dh0:c drawer but it still doesn't seem to work.

Eh, no you shouldn't extract the adf to the C drawer, but the tool installer which you are obviously missing.

Installer can be found on the Install disk of Workbench or like mentioned above on Aminet. Make sure the file called Installer is copied to the C drawer.

I've ordered a copy of 3.1 with the install disk (I only have 3.0)

I just hoped to get this working over this weekend, but I'll just wait until 3.1 arrives.

Thanks

You don't need to buy WB3.1 to have the installer!

Download it from Aminet! It's the 4.33 version, aka installer433 . Download it, un-lha it in RAM: , rename the installer433 command to installer and copy it to the C drawer (where every Workbench command supposed to be).
