Have many Amiga games been made into PC games?? I have Rainbow islands and Bubble Bobble but am wondering what other ones are out there and where to look for them? I was looking for Dizzy Prince of the Yolk Folk!

The best way to play Amiga games is to buy an Amiga. ;-)
At least, you will end up with the searching all around. :-D
-
Or to download WinUAE and get the amigaversions which probably are better than the pcversions anyway.
-
There's a little known company called Amiga Inc who's sole product is Amiga games that run on PCs...
-
if you find well on internet there is an huge repository of PC abandoware games but of course the quality sucks and since they was programmed for 386/486 you need a Pentium II/III to have the best performance.
-
If your just looking for games that were officially ported to the PC/MS-DOS just give Lemon Amiga a look.
-
Hall Of Light (http://hol.abime.net/) is a superb Amiga games site, too!
-
Almost all games on the Amiga have been released on the PC also, though mostly in far worse quality. Prince of Persia is the only original game which is better on the PC, because it has less framedrops. But that I guess is because of bad coding.
There have also been remakes, like Turrican 2 and Rampart, both being better than the Amiga versions (Turrican 2 having more colours, but the same gameplay, and Rampart with more versatile gameplay).
Also, Apogee made Amiga game clones for the PC. Games like Alien Carnage (like Dan Dare 3) and Death Rally (like Super Cars). Quite good games, not original, but very fun to play.

See www.abandonia.com (http://www.abandonia.com).
Dizzy - Prince of the Yolk Folk (http://www.abandonia.com/en/games/180/Dizzy+-+Prince+of+the+Yolk+Folk.html)
Most of those games play nicely on Amiga with DosBox.

Ive never used DOSBOX but your post and the games on that link got me interested. So I have a couple of questions
Is the one on Aminet the latest one?
will it run on an A1200 060 64MB Ram OS3.9?
If the answer is yes what else do I need to download as it says on the readme I need SDL Librarys
Extra Question - How do you know if a game will work or not or is just trial and error.

I don't think Dosbox runs at acceptable speed on 060, but I've not tried. What I did with a similar spec to yours was run on of the Amiga pc emulators, like pc-task and the other one, and got Mechwarrior 1 running very nicely. Its a 3D game. Yes, I think its trial and error.
-
Ive just tried dosbox but it brings up an error
"SDL INIT - No Available video Device"
I ave the SDL.Library in my SYS:Libs/ like it says and have everything else it says
I tried PC Task in the past but could not get it to do anything. I think I was missing the actual dos files needed to run it. Dont suppose you could spend a few moments to talk me through getting it setup
theres a few adventure games that I want to play that arent available on Amiga or ScummVM
-
OK So Dosbx wont work without SDL.Library which Im guessing doesnt work without a graphics card of some kind so unless someone knows another way to get this working thats a no go
PC Task I have version 3 but I dont have a floppy drive on my PC so even if I get dos I dont know how I could use it.
Maybe someone has zip of a preinstalled setup they could send me or something??

I had a hardfile I believe, and managed to import DOS to it. Then I would fire up the emulator into DOS, and execute the game. I can have a look and see what I have archived if you like - it might be later in the week though.
-
060 should have enough juice to run some old MS-DOS games but better try PC-Task or similar instead.

That would be great.
Im thinking thought PC Task might not run the games very well on my setup and apparantly shapeshifter is a faster emulator. Does anyone know where I can get games that run on shapeshifter? I might find the Mac versions of the games I want to play

Why play those games in Dosbox on the Amiga, while the same games can be played better natively or with Whdload? :-?

There was a site called macintosh garden I think which you might google for. Shapeshifter is good, but with AGA you may find that Fusion is better, although since I got my Mediator I can no longer get it to run. The other thing is don't believe it when people say that hardfiles are too slow. If you format your partition with the right files system, they are really fast.

Another World (http://www.anotherworld.fr/anotherworld_uk/) among others. Basically the one I know about. Not entirely free though.
Edit: Just remembered another: Rolling Madness 3D (http://www.lucaelia.com/games.php) (Marble Madness-ish. Very!)

I've found what I believe to my PC-task hardfile which should have DOS on it, and I think Mechwarrior. If you want to pm me, with an e-mail address, I'll send it to you, if you like. Its a 10 meg hardfile, but it lha's down to 3 megs.
Cheers.

@hollyp
AI is selling some on their website.

What about the Amiga Classix for PC? Are those collections legal? I know they run under UAE.
-
I have Rainbow islands and Bubble Bobble but am wondering what other ones are out there and where to look for them?
For example Wings of Fury (http://wings-of-fury.softonic.de/) (manual (http://members.home.nl/edwinbos/Bestanden/downloads/manual.html)).

@ angus -PM sent

Everything here (http://www.back2roots.org/) is legal.

Lemmings, Cannon Fodder, Theme Park, Worms, Gods - to name but a few!

Who doesn't remember Turrican? Great graphic, great music.
Here (http://www.pekaro.de/) is the PC version.

Zool2 was better on PC than the amiga (both ecs and aga versions). Works pretty well under emulation both with pc-taks and dosbox. As for 68k mac emulation there's some good games that never made it to amiga that where available for 68k mac. Warcraft1/2 and the earlier Alone In The Dark games (up to no.3) amongst others.
