Title: Used Software and License
Post by: asian1 on August 04, 2003, 01:11:43 AM
Hello
There is a public debate in my country about the
sales of used software. Is this legal?
Several major IT companies from US said
in their EULA that user don't have the ownership
of the software, only the license to use it.
The license cann't be transfered to other parties.
The consumer advocate group said that it is
possible to sell used books, used music tapes,
and the new owner have right to use it.
Selling only license is similar to car company
selling only license "to travel using the car".
Is similar "license only" rule apply with
AmigaOS and MorphOS or other Amiga applications?

here in norway afaik its like this:

if you own the software you are entitled to use it :)

ie if u buy a used game etc, and its orginal ...then u can use it ...

pretty logical imho....

one certain thing is , if you have a special personal regged file , ie froggerng ...u cant sell this to someone else etc.. even if u sell your amiga with everything...

another thing with a serial code imho anyway...

hard debate this really...

ok ok, sorry for being the rude one here but this EULA crap is really starting to get geek like anoying, here is the short version of all EULA's...   ...BLA BLA BLA....DONT PIRET THIS SOFTWARE....DONT USE IT ON MORE THAN ONE COMPUTER (Bill gates favorite)....bla bla bla and oh yea, you can make only ONE backup copy if you know how to defeat our copy protection.

so there you go in a nut shell.
