Hi guys,
this evening something strange has happened: I've launched a graphic demo to test the Amiga but I think that the demo was a bad file.
I was forced to reset the Amiga.
After the reset the workbench came up to a blank AmigaDos window where the only words written are these:
AMIGA ROM Operating System and Libraries
Copyright 1985-1992 Commodore-Amiga, Inc.
All Rights Reserved.
Then everything stops and never arrive to WorkBench.
And at this point the only thing I can do is to write down the only dos command I can remember:
startwb
Now the Workbench loads and works fine.
How can I come back to a normal situation?
Thank you in advance
Mauro

I beg your pardon...
...anything I write, when the AmigaDos comes up, the Workbench starts.
But it doesn't start automatically.

It sounds as if the Startup-Sequence is waiting for a keypress
Especially if you type anything and it starts up
Have you looked at your Startup-Sequence :rtfm:
Try it again and just press any one key and see what happens.

Yes, pressing any key makes workbench start.
But I haven't modified the Startup-Sequence, also because I think I don't have any chance to do it.
I remember, looooot years ago, I used to do this with some text editor whose name I really can't remember.

Can you dump your Startup-Sequence on here for us to check it?
Can you also see if you've got a User-Startup and dump that on here too?
Both these files are in the S: directory of your workbench.

The `any key` thing is the reason why `startwb` worked for you ;-) It's `LoadWB` btw...

And the built-in Amiga Workbench text editor is called "Ed".

Ok thank you all very much :-D
I've told you, it's too long time I don't touch Amiga Os stuff so my memories are quite confused
Finally I've reinstalled the Workbench (the one installed previously was the one of the precedent owner).
For the next time I'll take onto account all the advices you good guys have given to me :-)
I'm taking notes of anything is written here :-D
Thank you everybody once again
