I'm letting go of my Macrosystem Vlab Y/c video digitizer card!

(This is a very nice card and useful in lots of ways...Image FX import, IOSpirt VHI Studio import, Retina software.  Can use REXX scripts too.)

I was looking for a simple way to have live video on my WB screen. Can this card do that?

Um, I'm not sure there is any way to do that on a classic Amiga.

This is a frame digitizer from a video source.  It can grab frames or sequences of frames but not in real time.

This could be used as a way to connect a webcam, grab stills of an area the web cam saw and save in a directory or upload to an ftp server.  I believe tekmage has used this board with webcams at various Amiga shows to accompany his IRC chats.

The Toaster Flyer board and the Vlab Motion board are the only two that I know of that can capture video in real time, but I believe they both only capture to a drive and then playback.

I'm not sure there is software to have live video on the WB under 3.9 anyway...even if you could have access to a signal and the zorro bus could handle it without a bottleneck.

No, you need a Picasso IV card with a Paloma module:

or a  GVP Impact Vision 24 card with the external  Video Interface Unit:

Oh...that does make some sense...

if the display card is funneling the video through itself...but then it's never really going through the zorro bus.

previous listing ended with no buyer...a few queries but no one bought.

I've since lowered the price a bit and am still taking offers...set the listing period longer this time to let more people see it.

Back when I had one of these (it came with the Retina Z2 graphics card in the 3000 I bought used) it did have a video on workbench function.  However it was like 5fps tops.  Faster than a parallel port frame grabber, but not real motion.  The Macrosystem software that came with the card could funnel its output full screen through the Retina.  Try watching a movie on it at 4 fps.. It's like a really fast slide show ;-)

I still remember how awesome that computer was when I got it.  My PC owning friends thought it was really cool too.  It couldn't play Quake like their P200s but it could print at the same time as doing other things ;-)  And, wow could it rock Shadow of the Beast!

Good times.  I think that's why we're all still here..

I don't recall that but it may have been part of the Retina software.  Once I moved to CGX or Picasso96 those things became unavailable.

..it was never meant to be a primary way to grab or display video but it is a nice way to grab frames...even in an automated way like a web cam for a web site.

and back in the day, yes, Amiga had everyone beat.
