Greetings!
Thought I better introduce myself since I've already posted a few times on this forum lol
I'm Wandeep from London, UK. I bought my first Amiga (A500) back in the summer of 1990. At the time it was a great computer and was a worthy upgrade of my older brother's Commodore 64 (which I still have!)
The Amiga 500 was a really cool computer for it's time. Fully multi-tasking OS, loads of colours and incredibale sound and graphics to name a few things. Over time I saved up and bought a few extras for my A500, including an external hard drive, RAM upgrade, Action Replay, external floppy disk drive, sound sampler and video capture card (Vidi Amiga 12).
After a few enjoyable years of the A500, I decided to upgrade to the new A1200. I decided to part exchange my A500, external hard drive and Action Replay for the A1200. Was sad to lose the A500, but I was gaining a superior machine :-)
I use to love playing games on the Amiga (Sensible Soccer is still my all time favourite game) but also tried to do some creative stuff. I tried creating my own very simple demos and using the various programming languages (Amos, Blitz Basic etc). I used my sound sampler and video capture components to create some pretty awful slideshows lol
I then added the CD-32 to my collection which again at the time was a really good games console. I bought a few games for it (Microcosom stands out) and was impressed by the graphics.
Back to the A1200...I decided to buy an external CD ROM (Squirrel SCSI) and also a hard drive (3.5") which I managed to squeeze into the A1200 case. This really improved the performance of the A1200 and made it even more enjoyable to use :-)
Unfortunately since 1995 my A1200 was put away since I was at uni and PC's were being used so I had to make room for my "boring" PC. After years of using an Amiga, switiching to a PC sucked lol Everything seemed "clunky" and so un-friendly. I missed my Amiga so quite often use to set it up for a quick session of Sensi Soccer lol
So over the years the PC has dominated my computing experience. I obviously use a PC at work now and have my own desktop and laptop PC's at home too. But recently, by sheer fluke actually I noticed an old school friend had setup a Facebook group for Amiga users he use to go to school with. That got me thinking about the "goold old days" and I decided to resurrect my Amiga from my parent's loft lol.
Now I have my A1200 (and all the bits - CD ROM, external disk drive etc.) sitting proudly next to my PC in my study at home :-) I've decided to upgrade the Kickstart to 3.1 and replace the ageing hard drive with a newer, larger capacity one. I'm also planning to upgrade to OS3.5 and also get the PCMCIA CF Reader Kit thinggy so I can esily trasnfer files from my PC to Amiga. I'm planning to archive most of my Amgia floppy disks, since a few of them are starting to fail now.
It's so great using the Amiga once again. I just wish I hadn't left it so long coz now I am struggling to rememeber all the stuff I once took for granted when using my Amiga back in the day lol It is slowly coming back to me, but 13 years is quite a long time!
Anyways...just wanted to say "Hi" and a "thank you" to all of the forum members who have helped me with my questions and queries so far...I'm sure there will be many more questions in the future :-)
Long live the Amiga! :-)

Welcome.
The new things that have happened in the past months are the release of Minimig and AmigaOS4 Classic (PPC).
I hope you find the stay enjoyable.

Welcome back. The more the merrier.
The CF card reader is a great option but you have a CDROM on the Amiga. Are blanks expensive in the UK? If you have qa burner on your PC you can easily download and burn stuff to a CDR and use it on the Amiga.
Approx. 700MB at a time. I just keep one master folder on my PC hard drive and burn a new copy after I download a lot of new stuff. ;^)
Since you have an A1200 and loved to play games take a look at WHDLoad if you haven't already. I was amazed at what a great project that was and registered my copy quickly.
Again, I'm glad to have another Amigo using Amiga again.
