Title: BoingBag1 install problem
Post by: spihunter on February 27, 2008, 12:07:29 AM
Hey Folks,

I just downloaded BoingBag1 for My 3.9 A1200 and when I launch the installer I get the following error:

Sorry___an error has occured!

Interpreter: Executing non-funtion in line 3.

Any ideas? This is the first time I've ever tried one of the boing bags.

I tried the installer on Boingbag2 and it launches fine and tells me I need BoingBag1?

System specs in signature.

i have absolutely no idea. but that is one useful sounding error message! reminds me of something mac...

on the other hand if you have the money and never resolve this here prob. there is a se (ver 2.) of os 3.9 with both boing bag updates already installed. ;-)

How far did you get before the error came up?

@Dave G

It comes up right after the install window comes up. Pretty much right away.

@Monami,

Yea, that does sound like an old school Mac error.

@spihunter

The first few lines of my install script are

;$VER: Boing Bag Install 45.8 (26.3.2001)

(effect "center" "radial" $FF0077 $AA8800)

(set #language (getenv "Language"))

(set #wbversion 0)
(set #wbversion (getversion "libs:version.library"))
(set #wbversion (/ #wbversion 65536) )

(set #iconversion 0)
(set #iconversion (getversion "icon.library" (resident)))
(set #iconversion (/ #iconversion 65536) )

(set #w (querydisplay "screen" "width"))
(set #h (querydisplay "screen" "height"))
(set #d (querydisplay "screen" "depth"))
(set #c (querydisplay "screen" "colors"))

(complete 0)

Are yours the same?

 Variable "Language" not set. Just this.

 Select one language on prefs: and try again.

What version of installer are you using?  (Should be v44.10 or newer, but I'm not sure what the latest is...)

Yea, I'm using Installer version 43.3 I'm going to try a newer version and see if that fixes it.

Thanks!

Did you uncompress using unarc os 3.9??  I have had it where that corrupts the unarchived files, use lha from shell to unarchive it.

Where can one obtain this version 2 of OS3.9 that already has boing bag installed?

i got mine from power but they are long gone in the amiga scene. it's important to note that the se cd (second edition.) is pink and not red like the first one.

@monami

AFAIK, the SE (second edition) didn't have the BoingBags installed, it just had installation script fixes from the original CD.

Copy the one off of the OS 3.9 CD (and/or emergency floppy if you have it around).

Thanks for all the help everyone.

You must have installed OS3.9 without booting from the OS3.9 emergency-disc
