Title: Workbench 3.1 for A600 compatible on A1200?
Post by: wandeep on February 25, 2008, 04:58:43 PM
Hi,

Do you know if Workbench 3.1 disks for the Amiga 600 will work on my Amiga 1200?

What are the differences (if any) between the two versions?

Thanks

3.1 will work as there are no differences.  2.1 might not since the earliest Kickstart ROM for A1200 was version 3.0 .

Absolutely no difference, I use my 3.1 floppies for my A2000 up to A4000, no difference at all  :-)

Good question, I never thought about any of the install disks being different.  I assumed that they are all the same and only the Kickstart ROMs are different for each Amiga they are in.

I think you can use any set of OS disks as long as you have the correct ROMs in your A1200.

I believe the difference between Workbench 3.0 and Workbench 3.1 is just a few files. I've never had a problem installing Workbench 3.1 into an A1200 with 3.0 ROMs :-)
