Hello folks
Those folks who are members here may be interested that there is a poll on Amigaworld regarding the showing of Alternative Amiga discussions (That's Morphos and AROS to you and me!) on the Amigaworld front page.
www.amigaworld.net (http://www.amigaworld.net)
So if you would like to see MOS discussions on AW.Net getting the same respect as OS4 discussions and you have an account there - please vote! :-)
It's time for Amigaworld.net to throw away that one last vestige from the cold war days!

@Colin_Camper
As I'm sure you see, there is a small core of users there desperately clinging on to old red camp philosophy. Amazing to me really, it is 2008 already :roll:
Oh, when I say small core I think I count 4 or 5 very vocal individuals.
-
Of course some are still holding on to the 'Amiga' philosophy. In 2008!
Still it's good that you are so sure of winning the vote, that you have to go collecting votes on other sites. ;-)

Seems like AW has one of these polls every six months or so...

What 'Amiga philosophy'?

Do you know, I can't work it out anymore and I don't think anyone else can either.
A platform/community with a permanent identity crisis.

It's Morphing time!!

Ok, I can agree with you there.

Heh! Blame me, if you like.
A point I tried to make over there (AW), overlooked in the heat of emotional postings:
Several people had put forth the notion that the reasons postings were low in the altOS forum, was due to the fact that this forum does not appear on the front page.
The folks who contended this, are already AW members and one of them practically lives there and on AW irc. Heh!
I felt, if the poll being done was truly devised to gather accurate data, then it would be important to find out if AW non-members felt the same way as the posters mentioned above.
I'm sure Colin has only the best wishes for everyone at heart in his post here, and it was made on his own accord to spur positive discussion.
Perhaps it might have been better if I suggested discussions took place on each site, with someone like a moderator? from each site bringing the results back to AW for a factual report.
Anyway, hopefully, no harm, no foul.

Thats funny math you got there. The way I see it there were 10 times that many voting NO.
I think it's also pretty lame lumping everyone into "red camp". Lets face it. The site was created with a focus on OS4. Why does it have to change? Should I go to Aros sites and demand an OS4 forum?
Heck. If you want a site that fairly covers all platforms then Amiga.org is better anyway.

I don't even bother with AW.net anymore...

I wasn't speaking of the poll results, but the vocal few in the related threads spouting nonsense like "MorphOS users just spread propoganda, blah blah blah".

@Red:
I'm with ya man. my sentiments exactly.
There's so little going on in regards to new hardware, software ,OS news that it just makes sense to talk about it all. We all want some sort of "Amiga", we're all trying to reach the same goal, we're just using different hardware/software to do it. So why not just enjoy what we have available, support what we like without bickering. Who cares if MorphOS is the best Amiga OS out there and it just r0x.
-
This is pretty much what has always bothered me about AW.net.
the Amiga world is already so small in the first place why do we need all this division?
I like AROS, MorphOS, OS4, and OS3 68k folks!
Not really in that order?

Don't know why, but that sentence made me think of the "Leave Britney alone" video :lol:

@Colin_Camper
I never could figure out why the MorphOS and AROS discussions were off the front page, and yet other stuff like the pancake threads and litigation threads were out in plain view.
