The squirrel normally installs the required software onto a hard drive.
A daft question for you - have you got a hard drive in your system?

yeah got a 3 gig one so should be plenty of room dunno what im doing wrong .
if i select the novice user option i thought it would do it all automatically
but if i select the intermediate user i can select the drive i want it installed on and it still says squirrelscsi is full

It sounds as if it's trying to install onto your floppy :-?
Especially with it saying your disc is full!!
Are you booting from the hardrive and then sticking the floppy in once its booted up? And then running install script?

no im putting the disc in and booting from that
and as i say i can select what drive i want it installing to and it still says full
-
thats where you are going wrong .
boot up your system first,
then install the scsi squirell software.
after the install, go to dev/drivers and see if it has put CD0 in there, if not, go to storage/dev/drivers and copy it to dev/drivers drawer, rename CD0 to CD2, from the pull down menu info, edit the tooltypes UNIT=2, double click the CD2 icon to mount it, reboot.

Hmmm!!
If I remember rightly (it's a long time since I set up my Squirrel) you need to boot from your hardrive and once your Amiga is up and running - then insert the floppy and run install script from floppy.
The floppy startup will overwrite some important assigns that Squirrel software is looking for which are setup by your hardrive normal startup.
Give it a try. You've got nothing to lose
