Just got my eyes done and I’m proud to say that I don’t need glasses anymore. Lasik can be pretty expensive but it’s well worth it. My2020 (http://www.my2020.com) is a lifesaver. I resigned from being a fireman last year due to my worsening eye condition, and I’m just 43. Good thing I found my2020 with their financing deals for my lasik surgery, now I’m back in the station. It’s a tough job, but somebody’s gotta do it. I always felt self-conscious wearing thick glass and honestly not very attractive, Lasik really changed all of that. It was worth the trip, there were smaller Lasik centers in my area, but the staff and state of the art facilities eased my fears.

Thats the feeling I got. SPAMMERS must surely make a lot of money from it, I can't imagine why, people aren't that stupid, are they??? :inquisitive:

Oh, this poor spammer doesn't even get his/her spam on the front page.

Spam or no spam, I concur.
LASIK is well worth the cost. You cannot imagine how good it is unless you do it. You really do forget what it's like seeing with your own eyes. Everything's brighter and more colorful. Really. It's even worth the sawing your eye open whilst you stare straight ahead, the 4 hours of blindness, and the having to sleep with metal sheilds over your eyes for a week!

Yeah but will you be able to see this (http://www.amiga.org/forums/showthread.php?t=34651) through thick cloud? :-D

I prefer self treatment.

I don't like the idea of someone firing a laser into my eye, no matter how safe they say it is. You really do stand to lose a lot if they stuff up or you suffer an infection. Extended wear disposable contact lenses is the solution for me.

I'll pass on a laser in my eye too (not to mention the hole in my non-existant financial reserves). Spectacles work fine for me, one day contacts when I'm doing sporty stuff.

Holy CR@P, LASIK at home? Never would have thought that would be licensable.
I did a laser safety course for a research project with a biomedical imaging laboratory. I heard some horror stories of two people being blinded from LASIK, at our local Lion's Eye Institute.
The laser technician ignored safety procedures, and didn't maintain his equipment correctly. A hinge pin had dropped out of an actuator member, and the laser remained in its initial position and aperture for the entire procedures. Meanwhile, the technician was not even in the room.
One patient had one eye completely blinded, and the other patient had both eyes completely blinded. The same technician was responsible for both patients' treatments. he first incident was hushed up, with an out of court settlement, and the second incident went to a civil suit, and recieved quiet publicity in some papers.
Personally, I would still LOVE to have good eyesight. I hate wearing glasses. They cost a lot, long term, they get dirty, bent, scratched, slip off my oily skinned nose, and stress the eyes. They look poor, and are generally a right pain. My long oily haired eyebrows are constantly dirtying my lenses. Ahhh, just don't like glasses, and there are other reasons I can't wear contacts. I would still like to get LASIK done, despite the risks.
edit- OK, that was pretty stupid of me; I fell for a hoax. It seems the lsaik@home is just a joke. I do like the "don't blink" t-shirts though.

A small number of people report blurred vision afterward. One person described it as looking through vaseline (TM Uniliver, Rotterdam).
The risks are small, but significantly greater than zero.
The Soviets, who invented the procedure, used to do it almost factoy like.

It's Unilever
Anyhow, much like plastic surgery, I consider it un-hippocratic. The imminent risks maybe be low, but no one knows what the consequences are in the long term. And my eyes are VERY precious to me.
