Hi,
Can anyone recommend a good file recovery program for OFS disks, other than DiskSalv?
I recently managed to recover a "MiniDos Utilities" program from an Archon game disk (one of the first Electronic Arts games). [MiniDos was the custom filesystem used by EA's early titles. The utility program allows you to create, list, type files from a MiniDos filesystem.]
However, DiskSalv was not able to recover the file, probably because its file header block had been overwritten. So I had to recover the file data manually.
That's why I'd like to know whether there are any file recovery programs which can recover files (or parts of files) whose header blocks no longer exist. For OFS disks that's quite feasible since in each data block there is a pointer to the next block.
If all the data blocks are intact then the whole file could be recovered. If some data blocks have been overwritten, it would stil be possible to recover the fragments which remain.

Try Quarterback Tools.
