I having a problem with IDE HDs, so I'd like some advice about them.
The A4k I have, came with the original 250mb HD which was nearly full. I've now got a 40gig in there now, and would like to set up the old HD as a slave and transfer the Toaster program and other stuff that were on it over to the new HD.
I tried the different combinations of the jumpers, but it never showed up. Set as Slave, it should appear, like it does on my PC?

Set the old HD as master, the new as slave. Don't work? Try the old as slave.
The HD will not show first time, you need to run the hdtoolbox (or hdinst, or hdinsttools) and partition it first. Remember to not use the very same name for the partitions. Example: if old HD have DH0: , use HD0: for the new one.
That's an example, you can name your partition anyway you like, even put names in it! But please don't call any "Doomy" or "Amigeek"!

Naming it Doomy would surely make it useless.

Nope!
Then the partition will start to take out every board in system to sell them in Ebay for astronomical prices, the HD will start to complain it is not running in a MIL-spec machine and other problems...

Its OK. I set the old one as master (after getting the jumper settings online) and they both came up.
However, moving the Video Toaster has resulted in a new problem. It can't locate the VT fonts and quits as soon as it boots up. Somehow, I have to point VT to where they are.

Check the assigns!
Don't make "hard" assigns ( some like dh0:), but assign to sys:VT , instead.
