HI,
I'm getting back into my Amigas and am having some serrious issues. I spent the whole day, and I mean the whole day, trying to get the CV64 3D working on my fesh HD install. The HD has had OS3.9 and the 2 boing bags installed but I did not install the ROM upgrade from BB2. I can install P96 and everything seems fine. Reboot the machine and select a screen mode and click test and the screen is either black or I get a line down it but nothing else. I have tried numerous versions of P96, 2.1b, 2 and some of the earlier ones but to no avil. What is really irritating me (above all this) is that I have installed it numerous times a couple of years ago and it worked fine. I have pluged in the old HD with it working but I can't figure out what is different.
Any advice, help, anything, is appreciated.
Thanks,
Robert

Try removing P96 completely and installing CGX 4 instead...
-
I don't have a copy of CGF 4. I might have V2.1 that came with the card.
I thought P96 was better?
-
Well, actually CGX always worked better with the CyberVision series. CGX 3 was free of charge, but I have no idea where you might be able to download it from these days.
Still, if you can find a second hand copy of CGX4, that might be worth getting as it was a pretty good product.

The 2 copied disks for cybergraphix V2.0 and v2.1 both have read errors so I cannot fully install them. Tomorrow I am going to reinstall OS3.9 so that I do not have boing bag 1 and 2 installed and try Picasso96 again. If that doesn't work I'm out of ideas. Nothing has gone smoothly on this A4k and I'm getting irritated with the damn thing.

CGX v 3 is available on aminet http://www.aminet.net

also on AmigaOS 3.9 cd in contribution/rtg you will find cgx3 and p96

P96 should be fine. I use it with my CV64-3D. Could be that hte screen mode you are using is using a frequency out of range of either the gfx card or the monitor. Did you check that?
-
I checked the frequesnce settings aand they are the same as the ones on the ol hard drive that the card works on! This makes it even more annoying.
I'll try the software on the OS3.9 cd and failing that a complete restart by reinstallng 3.9 again.

Using CGFX supplied on the os3.9 CD does work but only until you install BB2 - the rom update/set patch introduces incompatiblities which prevent it working - screen modes wont appear in the requester. You can fix this by altering startup-sequence as here:
http://www.gregdonner.org/os39faq/compatibility.html#16

Where is setpatch located? I'll have a look and see if the versions are different on the 2 hard drivs. Is it just one file for setpatch?
Thanks.

Actually there is a better solution (http://www.amiga.org/forums/showthread.php?t=20198) (and yes, it works with CGX3, too).
This way you can keep using the exec V45.

After trying most of the night I gave up on Picasso and went with the CGFX 3 that was on the 3.9 cd. This worked first time, although I wasn't too sure about some of the questions it asked during install.
Is there any way to change the setup? I have it displaying the "loading CGFX" picture at startup which I will probably remove as it is only up for literally 2 seconds.
No boing bags installed but I will try for BB1 at least. I'm not too sure about BB2 as I'll have too look att the edit that is required a bit more carefuly.
