Title: Champion in all time amiga games
Post by: HE-MAN on July 25, 2003, 07:46:09 PM
Hi!

I have thougth that it would be cool to have a competition somewere with old Amiga games. Where amiga fan would be able to meet and fight in there favorit game.

To bad it would be pretty expensive when many would have to travel overseas. =(

YAY!!! A gaming competition where the people involved are over 15 for once!

I think this sounds like fun, albeit difficult for a mass gathering.

Could work for online games though. But they are few and far between.

Yeah, but you can would be able to have competitions in games were you only can play one-player too. See who get biggest score.

You don't need to be in the same place to go head to head on any 2 player Amiga games when you can do it from the comfort of your own home.
The tool for the job is kaillera (http://kaillera.abime.net/)

I've yet to use it so can't comment on it to much, but it's still very much in development and a Broadband connection is a must from all accounts.
But just imagine, Chaos Engine| Speedball 2| SWOS etc etc to be played with or against someone on the other side of the world ;-)

Seems like a pretty complex piece of software...
Or what? -I'm not a coder but to get TCP/IP play in old games that was not designed for it?
-Sounds rather complex to me...

But just a shame It's only for WinUAE :-(

@calen :
This thing looks good. Please inform us how well it works with which game. I never heard about this plugin and it definetely can replace the missing "player" next to me.

Transfers joystick info and screens over TCP/IP ?
Seems tricky.
I´m suprised that there isn´t a hack to use fake a nullmodem over TCP/IP for UAE wouldn´t that be easier than joystick ports?
I´m sure I have seen a program called telser or something that allowed you to use a telnet.device instead of serial.device for using a standard terminalprogram to connect to a BBS over internet.
