Shetlander gathered today to celebrate their Viking heritage with a spectacular festival of fire and fancy dress.
During "Up-Helly-Aa", hundreds of residents of the Shetland Islands off the north coast of Scotland have a torchlight parade which ends an elaborately-crafted Viking longship dragged through the town of Lerwick and being set on fire.
