Title: C128 and 80 columns
Post by: gdanko on January 28, 2008, 05:08:41 AM
I have connected my C128 to a 1084S. I have a 40 column cable with the din connector on one end and two "RCA" style jacks on the other end. I have an 80 column cable with "d sub" connectors on both ends. 40 column works perfectly, but when I switch to 80 column mode the display scrolls as if there is a problem with the vertical hold or something. Any ideas what could be wrong here? I looked for a vertical hold adjuster on the monitor but I didn't see one.

Um, last I checked this was an Amiga forum?  ;)

I think you have to press some buttons on the monitor to put it into digital mode from what I remember.  Should be on the back of the CRT...

Yeah but the C128 is very similar in look to the A500

Oh knock it off. :P I've found many users here who are also C= 8 bit enthusiasts. I emailed Paul, former owner of the 64 and More Store. He mentioned to me there is a small vertical h old screw on the back. I will check it when I get home. :)

I think I know what monitor you're talking about.  There ought to be a switch on the back labeled "RGBMode" near that D-sub connector.  Options are analog and digital.  Analog is for use with the Amiga; Digital is for your C128.  Having it set on analog might cause the symptoms you describe.

EDIT: Also check to be sure you're not using a null-modem serial cable by accident!

I have read from others that the D2 does not support the C128's 80 column mode. :(
