Make sure you select OpenGL in the options, otherwise the gfx will be awful...

Which options?
I can't see anything in any of the menus called 'options'.
I've gotten as far as the floppy graphic. Do I need to install OS3.x?
I have a boxed copy of OS3.5.

Either edit the RC file... or download Hi-Torro :-)

No thanks. :-)

I did and still have floppy graphic.
I must be missing something obvious here.

??? pop an ADF file in the top slot of the floppy tab... Have you never used UAE before?
-
@Matt:
Have you never used UAE before?
No and I guess that might help explain my next stupid question.
pop an ADF file in the top slot of the floppy tab
How do I make OSS into an ADF file?
Cheers for the help by the way and sorry for sounding like a two year old.
:pint:

Ok... sorry... right first you need to rip your Amiga disks as ADFs (Amiga Disk File)... these are then treated exactly as Disks...
So If you have OctaMED Sound Studio on a self booting disk, rip that to an ADF and you can boot it in the emulator.

Ah, right.
I have it on my Macbook HD, not as ADF though.
At the moment I don't have a way of getting files off my A1200 in anything other than a floppy that I can only read on that or my other A1200.
-
ok... Google around for a bootable ADF... then In Hi-Toro goto the HDD tab, and select "Add Directory". Then choose a nice directory on your HD (set it up as DH1: or whatever) :-)
Now boot the Emulator with the ADF, if you are using KS3.0 or better then the Directory you slected on your Mac will now show up as a Hard drive on the Amiga... put the OSS file in the Dir and switch back to the Emu... run... have fun :-)
-
OK, I'm still looking for an ADF file but rest seems to make sense.
Thanks again - I'll let you know how I get on.

try at back2roots (http://www.back2roots.org/) :-)
so, now that I got it running does anybody knows if I can use a usb joystick with it? Are there any usb joysticks for the mac e-uae out there in the market?
EDIT: I found this (http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=52&products_id=612&osCsid=f2442991c4561f4f3eb5c822f0ad91b4). Anybody tried it on a mac with e-uae?

OK, finally running OSS on wb2 but getting no sound.
I have Audio set to stereo, normal mode, interpolation off and 16 bit sampling.

Try "Exact" (which is the mode I usually run)... but that shouldn't make any difference really...
Check your Audio MIDI settings using the Audio MIDI Setup app in the Utilities drawer of your mac...

OK, had a look and couldn't see anything out of the ordinary.
Just occurred to me - I've been trying to play 16bit .wav samples - I'll try some 8bit aiff samples and see if that makes a difference.

Hang about! I just checked the mixing settings and noticed an option for Maestro, which rings a bell from when I set it up on my A1.
Does that mean anything to you, Matt?

Yeah, but UAE doesn't emulate a Maestro... you want Paula14!
I really don't now what's gone wrong...
Let me see if I can build a test disk for you... stay on line for a bit!

Thanks Matt. OctaMED up and running on the Macbook at last.
Now I just need to find some time to play with it.

Awsome, I wonder what was wrong before... Well have fun :-)
I've found running UAE on a MacBook a really great of getting OctaMED into the studio.

I have no idea.

That's the idea.
Can it be controlled from Logic or vice versa?
-
Never tried... I doubt it. I haven't found any MIDI loop back devices for MacOSX... since I don't really need them with rewire...
I prefer to use OctaMED to build loops and patterns anyway, then either record them or dump out as Audio files if I plan to do some Ableton work on them...
Motorolin will know what I mean with tracks like Electric brain and This World :-)
