Title: my chronic problems
Post by: lorddef on July 23, 2003, 04:17:54 PM
As you may well know I've been having big problems with my Micronik busboard, and I just need someone to answer me this simple question before I toss it aside and get a replacement;

Should my A1200 red screen when I boot up with the busboard installed with NO accelerator?

No it shouldn't.

TBH I dont think those Micronik busboards are worth the trouble.  The slots are nice but Z2 is so slow.

cheers Lando.  It's my only option without buying a big box Amiga (seeing as I already have a PicassoII lying around).

I don't think the accelerator is relevant to the wide array of problems that plague Micronik's equipment. I'm confident that the board works (albeit badly), it's just an issue of getting it set up *just* right. Sometimes taking the whole thing apart and putting it together again solves my problems.

That being said, it you can get your hands on a Z3 or Z4 board, go for it. They offer so much more.

I have tried everything now with this board though, even with a completely stripped system and correct power I still get that bloody red screen.  I've come to the conclusion that the board is screwed.

The board has had several owners before me that I know of, it could have had a lot of previous owners and I think I've been sold a dud :(

You're probably right about the board being knackered, but I've got one last suggestion for you. I too was greeted with a red screen upon booting my 1200 today. I left it alone for a few minutes, and it did finally boot. In fact, I'm writing this message on it.

Crazy as it sounds, power on, and leave it alone. Maybe you'll get lucky.

If there's anything more I can do to help, let me know.

Okay cheers Matt, I've tried it, left it for 20 minutes, still nothing.

I'll source a new board, and if the new board does the same................the saga will continue...........
