Unsure weather this should go in hardware or software but here goes...
I click on both Hively icons (020 and 020+FPU) and after a bit of loading I just get the message "Unable to initialise audio" in a window along the top of the screen. I'm not exacly sure what the issue is and how to cure it, i've tried different versions too. :-(
Any help would be great.

I got a well expanded 030, I guess we will have to see. Thanks for the info but this mught be a dumb question, were do I make the setting change?

an 030 will not be enough im afraid.

your problem is about AHI settings as buzz mentioned. open AHI prefs and choose something for unit 0.
and 030 is definitely not enough for hively. I've seen it crawl on a 40 MHz 040, a 060 barely does it.

i assume you want a tracker with c64 type sound ?
abyss' ahx soundsystem will work well. hivelytracker is based on the ahx replayer but with some extra stuff and multichannel.
