Title: a3k roms
Post by: lorddef on July 23, 2003, 02:03:29 PM
Aonyone know if 3.1 roms from an a1200 will work in an a3k ?

I know the a1200 roms have support for PCMCIA unlike the a3000 roms, but is there anything lacking in a1200 roms thats needed in the a3k?

I doubt it. The A3000 has a scsi controller, and no onboard IDE for starters. So, even if it powered up at all (which is doubtful), you wouldn't be able to boot any hard disks without some sort of Zorro card, i guess.

I doubt it as well they are unique to the a3000 the same with the roms in an a4000 desktop and tower they are both difrent. there is an a3000 on ebay that has a fault that might be of use for spares. :-)

Like xeron said, A3000 roms contain scsi code, and lacks AGA.

Dont know if there are more differences though.

I just looked at the a3k spec, didn't realise quite how different it was to the a4k.

Oh well I shall keep on with this a1200 monster :(
