Hi guys again, thanks for all your help before! I am thinking of getting a multisync lcd monitor but i am not sure which companies do real multisync monitors, i.e ones which will work with native amiga modes ... does anyone have any ideas?
cheers,
timo

If you mean LCD monitors that works without a scandoubler, then you'll probably have to look hard.
If you're living in a PAL country I recommend an LCD-TV that takes both SCART and VGA input. You can get these for only slightly more than scandoublers are sold for on eBay. ;-)

I am not so bothered about a scan doubler but more wanting one which i can plug the amiga 1200 straight into, i live in japan so i am hoping there might be some lcd tvs or something which would work but then what cable should i use for plugging it into the lcd tv?
-
Well, if you have PAL and SCART in Japan your best option would be an Amiga RGB->SCART cable. If not, then I don't know.

Try LG M1921A or M1721A. Those two works directly hooked in the RGB out of the Amiga. Not sure about the extra modes (only the native 15kHz screens was tested, so far).

I would imagine they wouldn't be since Japan is an NTSC signal standard country.
BTW, some high-definition TVs have built in scan-doublers but be careful. Some TVs sold in the US or Japan do not do 50 Hz vertical scan rates needed to play most European software.

Thanks for the info, I will see if I can find the LG monitors in Akihabara then, at least if i can get the Amiga going with some kind of signal I will be happy :)

If you like hacks, there is a very good one in Aminet to make a S-VHS video out in the A600/1200 computers.
Oh, yeah: the obligatory link:rtfm: (http://aminet.net/docs/hard/S-Video_A1200.lzh)

cheers for that, looks like a good project - never done anything like that before so i hope i won`t blow up the miggy. is there also a way to get a s-video signal from the rgb port via a cable or something ... or am i just talking nonsense ?

how else?
if you mean using only wires and no extra electronics, then no, because Amiga video port doesn't have s-video, so you need the hack

Yes, but the hack is doable if mounted externally to the Amiga too, adding one more chip. More details in the hack archive itself. That way no need to destroy the RF generator.

Yeah I will have to look into the paper some more, I admit my technical knowledge is not has good as it used to be, hehehe so my brain is still working slowly figuring things out.
-
The colorburst signal on the chroma line of an SVideo connection is wrong on a PAL Amiga and won't work on an NTSC SVideo connection. You won't get color, just gray-scale.
-edit-
Forget what I said. If the hack adds a chip to the RGB Analog connector it will work. I just assumed that the hack was using the internal RF modulator circuitry.

Hmmm to be honest I had no clue how the build the external S-Video port so I think as my technical knowledge is laughably small I will just stick with a VGA converter and plug it into an LCD Vga monitor and a small tv for the games :) Easiest solution for me at the moment.
-
Try looking at NEC Multisync's too, well worth a look.
The LCD TV/VGA solutions with SCART and PAL60 are a good choice and you could convert the power supply on a European model rather than mess with the video signal to get SVideo on a domestic screen....hmm.
By the way, why do so many Amigans insist on one monitor for all jobs?
:-?
As an after thought: Once upon a time Lik-Sang stocked all the converters you could need, now some of them are very hard to find....
.... Bl**dy Sony!! :madashell:
..and they stocked new CD32 pads. :boohoo:

Small apartment.
