Title: CD32 Power Supply
Post by: MortRouge on January 11, 2008, 06:57:00 PM
Hi!

I recently bought a CD32 at a garage sale, but unfortunatly it didn't come with a power supply. I've tried looking everywhere for it, but the only way to get one seems to be if I buy another console. I found on on AmigaKit, but I'm not so inclined to ship it; I live in Sweden.

So, is there another way? Could I easily build my own (very easily that is   ...), or does a power supply from another Amiga system work, like that of a C64?

Thanks in advance.

Buying from AmigaKit is good.....they are very trustworthy.

However, you can easily build one from a PC power supply.

If you ever get a CD32 powersupply that doesnt work......be carefull not to go by the colors of the cables.I have heard that Commodore didnt always match the corresponding colors to the voltage. So if your gonna build one..build it from scratch including the cable and connector and all.

I think Aminet has schematics for building a CD32 power supply...........I think I saw one here posted too....do a search here on Amiga.org.

I just checked Aminet:  here is the link:

Thanks alot!

But would a C64 power supply work? They seem to have the same pins.

No, they are totally incompatible. C=64 have only +5V and alternate 9V.

And the C64 have a 7 pin DIN conector.

BTW: look here (http://www.ianstedman.co.uk/Amiga/amiga_hacks/Amiga_Power_supplies/body_amiga_power_supplies.html#Adding_a_new_PSU_to_a_CD32) to learn how to connect a peecee PSU to your CD32.
