Title: Icon suggestions
Post by: Hodgkinson on January 09, 2008, 09:40:59 PM
Hi there,
I've decided that the current icon set (Default icons) on my 4-colour A1200 workbench (DblPAL) is looking dreary; compared against some of the drawer icons present in LHA's such as SnoopDOS on Aminet...

I’m looking for suggestions that would probably look OK with such a low number of colours, and work without programs such as MUI (I’m trying to keep things simple).

Special icons for CygnusEd, DOPUS, Sysinfo, SnoopDOS, LHA and  "Games" etc. would be preferable.

PS. To add the new icons, would I have to go round each folder and swap the .Info files? Or is there a simpler way to do this whilst preserving the initial .info file attributes?

Thanks,
Hodgkinson.

Thanks for the suggestions!

@tekopaa: That key site looks useful...Ta

I've just seen these on Aminet.net : 4ColMWBIcons.lha

Anyone got any screen shots of these icons in use? Would they work without MagicWB installed when patched onto drawers and files?

Thanks,
Hodgkinson.

My recommendation: NewIconsV4 and a 64-colour Workbench.

Give IconCopy (http://aminet.net/search?name=iconcopy) a try. You simply drag and drop the icon you want copied into the left window and then drag the icon you want changed into the right window. It works for both drawer and partition icons 8-)

This screengrab is of CopyIcon44 for OS3.5 & OS3.9, but they work the same :-)

Looks intresting.

"Neither the soucrce nor the destination must have an icon (info-file). "

No source info file? I thought it was the .info files that were the icons? Maybe you could help clarify?

PS. Any advice on the best WAV datatype out there?

Thanks,
Hodgkinson.

I can't explain why the readme says that. But I've just used IconCopy again myself for both drawers and partitions with .info files. Up to you whether you want to give it a try mate :-)
