Title: Can someone that speaks german please help?
Post by: Jeff on January 03, 2008, 01:06:05 AM
Hello,

I need to pay for this transaction and let the person know that I am ready to do so.
Ebay Auction I just won (http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120201974136&ssPageName=ADME:X:AAQ:DE:1123)

I don't speak a work of German and it looks like I may not be able to use Paypal so I am unsure of exactly what to do next. I can provide the sellers email address if someone can help me out here. I have been looking for one of these boards for my A1060 for a long time so I don't want to loose it.

Machine translations are proving to be difficult for both of us. As near as I can tell we have settled on about 22.80 Euro including shipping.

Thanks and sorry to bother you with this.

Jeff

PayPal won't work here. You need to transfer the money ("Überweisung"). By clicking on it you should be able to see the seller's bank data, but I am not sure whether he will provide this international banking code you're gonna need. Just write him a PM, most of us speak English a little. ;-)

It's kind of a PITA for us Americans, but with the account codes your bank should be able to transfer the funds (naturally for a fee).

Also, you could ask about sending him a money order in EUR.

Well, I sent him an email asking how to pay. He responded with "When the money arrives I'll mail you".

He thinks I am sending the money to him and I am not sure how. Out of all the transactions I have done I have never sent payment this way.  So, what do I do next? I can give someone his email address in a PM if they speak a little German.

Thanks,
Jeff

What he wanted to say is "When then money arrives on my bank account..." I can offer help but not right away. I'm gonna go to bed now. It's 2:30 a.m. here. :-o

I don't speak german, but it would seem it's basic bank transfer common over here. You should get his bank information, account numbet etc. thru that "Überweisung Plus" link and then type in the required fields on your web bank.

As this is international payment, there isn't necessarely all required information to make succesful payment. I'm not sure but I think you need to get at least IBAN (International Bank Account Number) - so ask him to email those to you. Because the complexity of international transfer, it is sometimes easiest to go your bank, ask them what information is required for succesful transfer and make it there. Be sure to mark that you pay all the costs, since they could easily eat up the whole 20$. After he sees the money on his account, the memory should be on it's way.

I sent something to the seller through ebay checkout that implied that it was sending a request for his bank information for me to initiate payment.  It is really late over there now so I won't expect to here from them until tomorrow.

I'll just go to my bank with his information if we haven't figured it out by then. I just wanted them to know I am trying.  Like I said before machine language translations are only so good.

It's time for me to go to sleep now also:-)

Thanks,
Jeff

Dude just send cash!  I sent $80 once for an Atari TT RAM card, it went fine...  It's only 9 Euro + S/H...

Just ask him if you can send cash, have him get you a quote for shipping and just do a Euro to USD conversion and send the cash wrapped in a couple of sheets of paper....  It's about $15 USD for the ram board plus S/H...

I think I just sent it via bank transfer. We will see if he gets it alright. I did get a confirmation that payment was sent ok.

Will keep you posted and thanks for the help.

As a seller, I do not want people sending me untraceable funds. If the letter gets lost or stolen in transit, how will I know the person even sent it and then also how would they know I'm not just keeping their money? And, if they didn't send enough or just sent and empty envelope, there's no way for me to prove it.

cash = bad

Did the seller give you his IBAN and BIC, or how did you transfer the money? If you have further questions write me a PM.

If the bank transfer doesn't work out, PM me.

btw: how do you expect an A2000A Ranger board to work with an A1060 sidecar?

@Zac67

Look closely at the board and you will see a place to solder on a 90 pin female header close to the card edge connector. This was for the card to be used in the A1060 on the pass-through as 1 meg expansion for the Amiga.

According to old usenet posts it is possible.
