So I have my amiga powering up through the connector on the micronic busboard, but still it's not functioning as it should.
With no accelerator I just get the red screen, and if I put my blizzard mkiv in it it just shows a black screen and does nothing.
So now I know I'm powering it correctly at least, but should it be red screening with no accelerator (I.e. does the Micronic bussboard need an accelerator to work)?
Anybody had this problem?
I'm using a powerflyer as well, should this be a problem?
My next step of action is to remove the powerflyer and give it a go, but something tells me its no use.
any suggestions?

Sounds like a PSU problem.. adding the blizzard might just put it over the edge.
I know it sounds obvious, but have you stripped it down to the bare 1200+busboard ?
Since I`ve never had a powerflyer, this next bit is just a guess.
AFAIK, it plugs into the 1200 via the ROM sockets and then has the ROMs plugged into the powerflyer, and so the ROMs are higher than normal.
If the busboard covers the powerflyer on the motherboard, there`s every chance that the ROMs could be shorting on the underside of the busboard, and giving you the red "bad rom" screen.
So try it without the flyer.. if it boots, then you need to add some insulation .

The Micronik bus is extremely nitpicky with power. Keep adjusting that power cord, and hopefully it will eventually work. I was having trouble a few years back and reseating the ROMs actually seemed to help. My bus is acting up again, so I may try that procedure once more.
*EDIT* - I've also found greater difficulty in getting the bus functioning properly in the summer. The heat or humidity could be too much for it. There's no room for a fan in the Micronik tower, so I'm not sure how to cool it. Even leaving the side panel off doesn't help.

the board is definately not shorting out, as I have covered the bottom of the board with tape to ensure this.
I actually found the right connector for the power on the busboard so I also doubt its the power, although I will check to see if all the connections are good.
So I'm guessing that your systems still get to the early boot menu without an accelerator installed?

Tried with my Powerflyer removed, exactly the same thing happens.
I may try one more time before I look for another zorro busboard, preferably a Micronic one.

Hmm.. I have MicroniK's classic tower's busboard (the one with 4 isa, no pci) revision 4.02. I don't remember exactly now, but I had to send it for repair to get it work with certain accelerator, that long time that I don't remember was it with b1230-IV or b1260. Local dealer made fix for it and after that it has worked fine... I never had any problems with PSU.. it worked fine with power to a1200's mobo from PC psu.. never had connector on busboard.

Depends on Micronik busboard...
Some boards (iirc, at least newer Z3i's) have a few jumpers, that
determine type of accelerator used (None, A1200 accelerator or A3/4K
accelerator)

mine is revision 5.43, it has 2 inactive PCI, 3 inactive ISA and 5 ZII slots.
I hope it isn't incompatible with my blizzard 030, that'd really piss me off.
