Hello.
I have a working X-surf (the one with ide and clockport ports) in my amiga4000
In os3.9 works fine but in the 4.0 side freezes the system every time that i transfer some bits.
It works fine the first packets but in a few seconds completelly freezes the system.
Its a 100% clean install.
I use the x-surf.device V1.2 filesize 13448 (040 version) as sugested in the compatibility list of acube.
Any idea?
Of course its in the roadshow stack.
Thanks and sorry for my bad english.

Can someone send me this patched x-surf.device for OS4 ?

It works fine the first packets but in a few seconds completelly freezes the system.
I have the exact same problem, but with my mediator and Realtek RTL8029 card.
I don't know yet what's wrong :-(

Could anybody please pm me if you ever get this patched driver for Xsurf? i don't think Chris H. reply any emails regarding this tho :-(
thank you,
D.

I have the same problem with my Ioblix ethernet card and there aint much chance of getting RBM to do a new driver for that.
Anyone know how to remove the TCP stack so I can install AmiTCP? If I dont try and use the OS4 stack it still says the bsdsocket.library is always loaded.

It cant be anything to serious because I'm using an RTL8029
with a Mediator in an Elbox A4000 Power Tower without
any problems. Are you using the rtl8029.device?

I lock up with X-Surf on an A4000D as soon as I try to load a Web Page anywhere. First few packets arrive, then total lock-up.
I guess I could do with looking at this patch too if someone can send it to me.
Thanks in advance! :-)

Or everyone could pester Hyperion to update (i.e. write) their SANA-II documentation, so device developers can write or produce patches for OS4 friendly (and PowerPC native) devices.

I have been having the same problem with a Norway adaptor attached to my Algor USB card. I thought it was either something I was doing wrong or a problem with the Algor (I have problems getting OS4 to boot with the Algor installed) so I bought a second-hand X-surf card only to find that does exactly the same thing; starts a transfer and then freezes. I'm not a happy bunny! Can someone e-mail/PM me the patched x-surf.device too so I can save at least some of my hair from all this pulling! (andywest41-at-hotmail.com)

Hope this is of any help. See this site (http://tfguild.freesitespace.net/download/).

edit:
The driver for the ariadneII which is needed to patch xsurf.device is here (http://www.sophisticated-development.de/software/index.php).

You can prevent Roadshow starting by removing all interface files from DEVS:NetInterfaces. But AmiTCP (and Genesis too I think) won't work on OS4 because it contains some nasty hacks.

Drivers written according to the pre-OS4 SANA-II standard should work with OS4. The reason for an older driver not working with OS4 could easily be unrelated to the way it implements SANA-II.
