I recently purchased a TrekStor i-Beat MP3 player wich I guess can also be used as a Thumb Drive...............but when I plug it into my A1200 with Subway USB............it maks the sound that it noticed the device...........but no Icon comes up for it...............I have had this problem before with another Thumb drive but fixed it somehow......can't remember how.
I use Poseiden 3.3 I think.

And you have fat95 installed ?
-
Yes of course :-) otherwise none of my other THumbdrives and Compact Flash cards wold work.
I suspect maybe the MP3 Player/ THumbdrive is formatted NTFS? who knows?
-
what version of Poseidon stack is running i had this problem with 3.5 fixed with 3.9
-
Just as a point of interest where can one download the latest release of Poseidon stack ?
cheers

Good question...

First of all, Poseidon 3.3 is absurdly old. I don't remember my version history, but it may even be too old to automount devices. Grab a new version as soon as possible.
Until then, open up Trident and look around. Has the massstorage class been invoked? If not, the device is incompatible and probably needs some custom software that will never be written for the Amiga.
Newer Poseidon is your best bet.

that's possible.
not all mp3 players are formated to be recognized as flash drives.
iRiver is one company that does make players that can be read as removable drives. I've seen one plugged into an AmigaOne. Since Flash drives are getting so cheap these days, I would just get one that is just a drive.

@adonay
There is a Version 3.9 now? You sure? 3.8 just came out recently as BETA.
@Matt_H
Yes the massstorageclass has been invoked and it shows its running when I plug the device in and out it shows its insertion and removal.............as I said, this happened before with one of my older USB drives, and I fixed it somehow..........so I think it can be fixed. THis is the version of Poseiden that came with My Subway USB that I recently bought from AmigaKit. Its 3.3. And its a registered copy.
Will I lose registration if I upgrade to 3.8/3.9?
I installed 3.8 on my WB3.1 partition and it didnt work, so I am afraid it will mess up my current config.
-
Yes, please tell me where to download the latest Poseidon ? And how to register it ?
-
@ leirbag28
Hmmm... I actually don't know what happens when you upgrade an OEM copy. I mean, I think it *should* still work, but I don't know how it does an OEM check without a keyfile.
Last version was 3.8r2 (still labelled as 3.8, though).

If you already have Poseidon installed, you could try registering through the section in Prefs marked Online/Reg.
Alternatively, ask the question in the Mailing List:
highway_usb@yahoogroups.com
Not sure if you have to join it first. I know that Chris Hodges monitors the list and may respond.

I use Poseiden 3.3 I think.
I sometimes have this problem too, using V3.8.
To get an icon, for me, it is necessary to go to Shell and type Assign. This lists all the mounted drives and afterwards, I get a desktop icon.
Alternatively, I go to Dopus and DIR UMSD: which also works.
