Hi folks, now when i have finished my minimig im very curious to know how many minimig owners here are in this community? please tell me also if you have built it yourself and so on..
-
I bought one from Wizard66 on eBay.
-
Hello :-)
just bought 10 pcbs, waiting for it :-)
when I'll get the components I'll populate it and will make 9 happy minimig owners :-D
If you're interested by full working Minimigs drop me a mail, my address is in my profile :-)

What do you think of it? I love mine, i have copied all my games to my 2G SD Card, and having plenty of fun :-D

Have two boards between myself and a friend, have most of the parts. We're just waiting on a few bits that should ship just after xmas :(
Gotta wait but got other amigas anyway :-D

We have one and will be giving away one.
-
@pyromania
Give it to me pretty please lol
-
@Pyromania
Are you having any problems running ImageFX and that Universe program dealy on MM? Or, is it smooth sailing and all goodness?
-
Hi.
Can a done Mimig be hosted on any type pc atx desktop
-
@weirdami
We are having trouble running anything since we did not get our power supply yet.
:-D

I love it. I installed a bunch of demos on it. Sure brings back the good old times.

I have Build 6 Minimig's
One for me and 4 are sold on ebay.
one is ready to be place on ebay now.
I like the Minimig bigtime aslo the screen display is crystalclear on a LCD Screen

The picture on a LCD screen sure looks amazing.
It would be nice if we could "register" all Minimigs that has been built, then we could follow up how many there are and where they are located.

I have one and am working on getting more made.
-
I have two working units (the Mini-itx version I made earlier) at home and a third was sold to a workmate (and his son is happily using it).
-
I have most of the parts for two, but have not started building them yet. I hope to start assembling them in the next week or two, if I can find the spare time.
For those who have completed the assembly of their Minimigs, please post which method of soldering they used to install the FPGA and M68k CPU, as they appear to be the hardest parts to solder to the PCB.

DiscreetFX is going to start a Minimig registration page very soon.

I just listened to the latest ART. Are you holding off buying a power supply because you are worried about frying your Minimig? It should be easy to find a suitable power supply. As long as it's regulated, does 5V, and is able to supply over 100mA, you will not fry the Minimig. This is because electrical devices only draw current when needed. However, you don't want to go too close to 100mA as power draw can fluctuate, which may cause the Minimig to cut out. As I have said to you before, this adapter would be ideal for your needs:

I would never use this Power Supply.
Lets look at the Minimig Manual :
The Minimig must be supplied with a 5V STABILIZED POWER SUPPLY.
Please use only the supplied power supply.
A power supply with the wrong voltage or polarity will certainly damage the Minimig.
Connect the power supply to the 2.1mm jack
labelled “DC IN” at the back of the board. Centre pin is positive.
This (http://www.trcelectronics.com/Phihong/psa-05r-050.shtml) looks a bit safer to use.

Uhh, why not?
You do realise that a regulated power supply is the same thing as a stabilised power supply, right? Your example is slightly more expensive with the added bonus of being less versatile.
-
The GE AV23650 can be set to 4.5 Volts, but not exactly 5 Volts.
If i had to use this one, i would set it to 9 Volts and add a 7805 based Voltage Regulator Circuit.
-
Fair enough, good point Ohforf, I stand corrected.

This thread makes me even more afraid to order a power supply for my Minimig. Don't want to get the wrong one thats for sure!
-
The powersupply shall:
* Output DC
* Be regulated or stabilised.
* Supply between 4.75V - 5.25V
* Be able to provide more than >100 mA
* The wire between the power supply and the minimig board should be less than 2 meters (less is better)
* The positive (+) shall be in the center of the DC plug and (-) at the exterior (at least that's how the schematic looks too me)
The +5V only supports the external ports: Joystick1, Joystick0, Mouse, Keyboard.
Many circuits allow for upto 5% or even 10% up or down. And even if your power adaptor gives more than 5V, you most likely fry your keyboard, mouse etc.. not a big deal.
ALL circuits on the board itself (fpga, m68k, ram, etc..) is powered by LM1117MP-ADJ (http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?Detail?name=LM1117MP-ADJCT-ND) linear regulator.
The onboard power regulator LM1117 can take up to 11.39 Volt continously with a SOT-223 package at 40° Celsius room temperature (at 100mA).
If you can touch the power regulators without burning your fingers, it's fine. As fingers start hurting at ~60° Celsius and the silicon won't melt until ~150° Celsius.
If anyone is really worried, buy a 7805 regulator and wire it to a battery with more than >5V and solder this to the DC plug. That way no transients, thunder or other powergrid suprises will enter your minimig. It only leaves your TV screen.. :-)
(if anyone finds any contradiction in schematic or datasheets, pls tell)

I have made so far 5 pcs.
Two for my college, one for sweetlilmre, one for critical and
one for me. I will make next year the other 5. :hammer:
Und Tschüss
Frohe Weihnachten

Can Altera DE1 owners join the party.
If so I have 5;)
Cheers.

Just ignore my advice and you'll be safe (didn't see the lack of 5V supply on the device I recommended for some reason. D'oh!). Follow Ohforf and freqmax's advice and you should be fine.
Oh and what I was saying before is that if you take a few basic precautions you are very unlikely to fry your Minimig. The most important things to look for is regulated 5V and getting the polarity of the connector the right way around. A surge protected multiplug would be a good investment too.
