if someone could download newicons46.lha to their amiga and try to unarchive it to let me know if it is corrupted or not. I get a problem on the 21st file and it quits...
and I just downloaded it from their site and go the same error.
error on file 'newicon.h' : i/o error
warning skipping corrupt/extraneous data

Not tried on an Amiga, but I also get an error when unarchiving that file using Stuffit Expander on my Mac, so it does indeed appear to be corrupt. Have you tried downloading it from a different mirror?

I just did a quick format of the DD disk I was using on the Amiga (not on the PC as I had done earlier) and not the file I downloaded the the main NEWICONS website seems to be fine... Dont know why but maybe the Amiga Quickformat adjusted the disk enough to allow a copy correctly...
Well it tested OK on disk but when I copied to my Amiga it gave me the same error.... Grrr
So I just left it on disk and sent the final to my CF HD... It worked...

Works fine here. What version of LhA are you using?
-
Don't use the "last" version of lha for dearchiving big files. It is buggy!
Prefer the old, trusty 1.38 version instead.
-
Early versions of the 2.x branch were reported to have that bug, but I thought it had been corrected with the latest releases (2.12)?
-
Not yet...
At least to me. It don't work right in my Amiga.

Wait a minute...
Are you saying that the archive tested okay when on a floppy but after being copied to your `hard disk,' the copy was corrupt? If that's what happened then your MaxTransfer size could be too large.

Yep. That appeared to be the case. Should I check it out in HDToolbox and adjust to 65xxx ?
-
I would first try 0x1FE00 and if the archive still becomes corrupt when copied then lower it to 0xFE00
Edit: And yeah, that's in HDToolBox.
