Title: Broken lead

Could anyone fix this for me, please?:

Wouldn't it be cheaper to buy a soldering iron and doing it yourself? When it comes to soldering, it doesn't get much easier than soldering wires to SubD connectors.

Really, if it's only the 4 wires shown in the picture, then just do it yourself. It seems you have enough cable lenght so you can always strip it down a bit further if you don't succeed at the first try.

I wish it were just the 4 wires. It's the monitor lead for the Sony Trinitron monitor I've been using on my A1200T. I tripped over the lead and brought the whole lot crashing down  :-x

There's thicker core wiring inside and they all have to go on in a particular order.

Hmm, that sux somewhat harder indeed. However, if you're not too shaky it's still not VERY hard. Just find the correct pinouts somewhere and be a bit patient when soldering. Anyway: good luck in fixing it!

I'm using a SCART to tv lead at the moment - would the wiring be the same inside that? Could I cut the lead and rejoin the wires by the 'twisting' method? That is, cut the Amiga end off the SCART lead and twist the wires together with the broken lead?

Wouldnt recommend joining any wires that way... especially Video / Audio cables... might end up with a loss in quality. The shielding on cables is there for a reason... :D

its easy, have a look at SCART (http://www.hardwarebook.info/SCART)  and Amiga Video (http://www.hardwarebook.info/Amiga_Video) pinouts
all you need to do is connect (http://pinouts.ru/VideoCables/AmigaScart_pinout.shtml) analog RGB and few sync signals.

Unlikely!! Colors are often not correct, specially on self made cables. This Trinitron monitor you are using has a VGA (15 pin) connector I suppose?

I could repair that cable for you; easy. Might be cheaper though to source someone more local to you. (try amigakit)
An Amiga-VGA adapter is what you need, and a standard VGA cable.

If all fails I could make a cable for you and send it, that would be cheaper then first mailing this defective one.
