Is it possible to install Bvision in A1200 without removing the RF shielding?
Can the entire computer with ppc and bvision be powered from floppy connector only? (for testing)

Yes I still have the RF shield in mine and you probably could power the entire machine via the floppy (though not a great idea).

Almost impossible, I'd say. You need to remove the shielding for installation at least. Even when installed, the BVision runs quite hot and the shielding would reduce the heat transfer thru air, so I would recommend removing the shielding permanently.

You won't get audio output then (or you will get some very faint noise only).

You need to remove the shielding for installation at least.
because of the two screws? I had an idea to solder the two bolts to ppc card, insert the ppc and then easily attach bvision with screws.

You really need to remove the shielding to fit the card (you also need to connect the VGA-cable to BVision, if you try to wiggle it in without removing the shielding you WILL have trouble).
Anyway, it's no big deal, so why the problem with removing the shielding?

I wouldn't. Soldering bolts to the card would require some serious heating, and the bppc is a 7 layer item. There also are some SMD components very close to the screw holes. You really don't want to screw it up. Screwed up metal shielding is less of a problem.

the thing is; I have no HDD cradle and the drive is screwed to the metal shielding; also, I was worried about interference; A1200 seems protected with it (from a small amount of water for eg..)
Do you think I could at least keep the bottom half of shielding?

Well, A1200 or BPPC don't really emit that much interference. Also both parts are specced to happily absorb EMI. So the only possible problem might be some other really delicate device close to the system.

Sure thing. Only the top part needs to be removed.

This actually answers a question I had about just dumping the shielding altogether in the A1200. So just to make sure I understand , there is no problem with taking it out and running the A1200 with no piece of aluminum over it?

That's correct in my opinion. I once removed all the shielding so that I could put a 3.5" IDE hard drive in an A1200 Desktop. I split the floppy drives power lead to get some juice for the HDD and it worked fine. I of course put some insulation under the HDD though :-)
