I just noticed the A600 I was using turned purple and have no idea why, TV is fine and the machine seems to function ok. Would anyone know anything about this or have experienced the same problems? :-?

Hi. Seems to be the rom ... is the rom 2.04 / 2.05 ?
Best Regards

No, it's 3.1 .
-
Do you use an original ROM or a writed EPROM?
-
Green component missing from the RGB signal perhaps? Check the cable and connectors.
-
Cables all seem fine, I't isn't an official MX ROM chip (has paper label) so I presume it is written on.
-
As Piru has suggested - it'll be the green component that's gone west. Same thing has happened with one of my A600's.
Whether it's Denise or the hybrid U37(?) that's at fault - I don't know, but it's definitely not the cabling as all outputs (scart, VGA and composite) are affected.
-
I have an A1200 that also suffers from purple taint :-)
-
Are you sure it's the ROM? I don't fancy forking out £15 or so just for a chip if it is working fine. :-?
-
No, it's not the ROM, you have a busted ECS Denise, or the related color chip is the problem (or even a faulty SMD resistor).
If you have the schematics (and the skills), trace the green signal along the way from Denise to the CXA1145 (video encoder), U31 (74HCT244), Q212 (green transistor)+ associated resistors, and other areas involved.

I think "bugger" springs to mind.
New motherboard it is then...

I, personally, never will get up to simple problem like that!

@ rkauer: I don't get you. :-?
