Maybe someone has seen were I can obtain about a 100+ PPC 604E processors. Preferably 233mhz. I have been looking, can not find. I know a lot of you search around. I do not want to pay the price Freescale wants. If I have to buy from them the projects dead. thanks.

I've got to ask but what do you want with 100+ 604e 233Mhz processors? Newer 400Mhz i.e. the MPC5200B are about £50 from digikey and thats before bulk buy. The slower ones (220Mhz) go down to £21 I seem to recall.

Looks like someone is planning some new accelerator boards intended to run OS4 on classic Amigas, or is this project for a Minimig expansion project? Inquiring minds want to know???

I've got a loose one around here.

MPC5200BV400 are £20.76 per unit with a price break of 40

Maybe he's stumbled across the original schematics for a phase5 PPC board and has to use the same PPC chip.
IMHO it's the only way an individual can afford to do an Amiga PPC card.
Starting again from scratch would be too expensive.
If you were starting from scratch, a 100MHz 060 board with SDRAM would be a better product ;-)

I agree, 100 MHz 68060 is FAST! I manage to run one at that speed on Apollo 4060 but then the board is not so stable, it would lock up after a completely random time, can be minutes or hours, but it is incredibly fast.

Gods like Dennis should be well capable to do some hacking about ;-). The inside knowledge he created during his Minimig development could be a great help.
BTW, if you're looking for those PPC processors, go have a visit at the local scrap-yard. Apple's 8600 / 9600 PowerPC machines are being ditched like your every week waste.

Getting cheap 604E's aint to hard, if you dont mind the ROHS status, If you were British I would recommed electronics-direct.com who have a load of 604e's listed, (for example 152x PPC604E2BE233EE by IBM) a load as in thousands. now they are a surplus place and there are loads like them on the net so try some US ones first, its dead easy to pick them up in 100+ quantities.
As for a price, I dunno, you have to make up an order (a RFQ) and they will come back with a price.

I said expensive, not difficult.

Ah, I stand corrected.
