Ok, I'll admit... I haven't been paying much attention to the A1200 hardware, so I don't know how long the Viper accelerators have been out. But I've ordered the ROMs for my A1200 boards, and now I'm considering expansion possibilities.
Since A1200 parts seem infinitely cheaper than A4000, I'm now convinced that if I can get one of my boards to work, I can go alot further with less cash.
So, I looked into the Vesalia Viper accelerators and of course the Mediator brand of PCI expansion. I noticed that Elbox makes no mention of the Viper in it's small list of compatable accelerators.
So, my question is, is there anyone out there using the combination of a Mediator and a Viper? Or is the Viper still too new for that kind of review?
Thanks!

I'm still waiting for my Viper from Vesalia. Rumors say that the boards aren't even finished yet..

if viper works in mediator or not, well the docs states that it works on all new ones.
the ones it wont work with is the old cards and them who always have been probs with, like typhoon and so on, if viper is out then i am 99.9% sure it will work just fine.
also the viper is basically an APOLLO card..
(same design etc)

Ehmmm sorry but.... Are Viper Cards new? :-o
Mediator is ultra-compatible, it should runs ok. try to mail elbox, so you can be sure.

They are making new Viper cards (040/25, 040/40 and 060/60). Like fragment, I'm waiting for the 060 board from Power Computing. I ordered mine at the end of May. Power have now removed them from their site.
They've been giving me the runaround, but now I know that Vesalia aren't shipping theirs I feel a little better about it (I'm still unhappy about it taking so long tho).
I don't think anyone but the makers of the new Vipers would know if they're compatible, and chances are they haven't tried that yet.

Very interesting.
Can you tell me more about the 060 60Mhz version?
Does it have a MMU? FPU 50mhz? Ram slot, upgrade slot?

I can't answer that question because I don't really know, except you can have up to 64Mb RAM in it's only Simm slot. Here's the link from Vesalia:
Vesalia Viper 060 (http://www.vesalia.de/?V02b0f155350421077565c57520b514e01101f0954414752050140090a1e31115579633a223c6373744e03263f2a2a76610539646c6629687c2e3475551a702c6245145a57080e6b1d6947584c415b5c02503f60020853404a0)
There was more information on PowerC's site about it, but it's not on there anymore. It won't be on places like The Big Book of Amiga Hardware because no-one's got one to submit the info.

Not so strange for an Apollo board.
Remember that the Apollo 1230LC, supports only 8MB max of ram!!!
But . . .wich is the German Company that produces the Viper cards? It costs quite a half that a Blizzard 060 one!
Ciao
