Title: WTB: Faster than 50MHZ 060 for my CSMKIII
Post by: pan1k on December 07, 2007, 04:39:02 AM
Anyone have something faster than 50MHZ? Is it just plug and play? Anyone have something faster than 50mhz that can tell me how much speed increase i'll get?

You can overclock yours to 65MHz, anything higher will mess up the SCSI.

I have a MKII that runs upto 66MHz but it overheats in my A3000T so I run it at 60MHz.

66MHz is a considerable increase which you can feel.

The CS MK3 can have an oscillator put in the middle oscillator slot (add a socket) to run the 68060 and the original oscillator will clock the SCSI and Zorro bus. A very small jumper has to be changed. The Amiga Center in France can do it for you. You still need a 68060 and memory that can tolerate whatever speed you want to run. Here is the writeup you need...

Get your very overclockable (90MHz+) and rare 68060 from here...

And then hope with all the money invested your CS doesn't crap out on you like mine did.
