I apologise if this question has been asked before. I have heard the '030 is almost fully compatible WHDLoad but how compatible would a Blizzard 1260 attached to my A1200 really be?
-
WHDLoad is fully compatible with all 020 to 060 CPU's. Some games will work with a 68000 but some need a 020+
WHDLoad is a degrader tool to make old games work on hardware and software which would normally not support these games.
Example: Seven Cities of Gold from EA. Released in 1985 for the Amiga 1000, it only runs on a 68000 CPU, with 256K Chip, Kickstart 1.1 and below. With WHDLoad I can run it on my A4000 with 68060/66MHz CPU and 272MB Fast RAM on AmigaOS 3.9!
Note: Some games will run better on a 030 vs a 060 but that is due to the slave author not doing the slave correctly. One game I remember that had this issue, and has been resolved with an update was Liquid Kids. It only ran correctly on a 030 and would have gfx glitches on a 040+. Now it works perfectly.

Blizzard1260 and blizzardPPC/060 are not good for WHDLoad due to the way they play with caches : for instance SWOS is slower on 060 than on a plain 020.
If you only want to play through WHDLoad, 68030 is the best accelerator.

In fact i am running an Apollo 060 saied to be less compatible with apps than blizzard but i have no problems with WHDload at all it runs great so i would say that 060 is quite compatible if the author did the slave right ..

@TjLaZer
I had an Amiga CD32/SX32 Pro 68030 @ 50mhz which ran WHDLoad excellently..........I took that harddrive out and placed it into an A1200 with 68040 @ 40mhz..........now almost NONE of the games work...........whats up here?
Do I have to change stuff in the ToolTypes? I have tried that a few times and Failed. I disabled My Subway card and that helped a little...........but still same issues and some games start.after a minute........they go back to Workbench asking ome weird stuff like "Do CoreDump or QUIT"
I want WHDLoad back up!!!!
SuperFrog runs....but all corrupted.

@leirbag28
yes all you have to do is use the tooltype NOCACHE and that should make them work!!!!
You can also play with the tooltype PRELOAD, sometimes that helps.
I have yet to find any game that does not run on my 060 via WHDLoad...
-
@Leirbag Check if the FPU option is enabled in whdload prefs as it is used with 030 to enable but is automatic in 040 and 060, turn it off ... Try now
-
060 and Whdload is a perfect match! Ofcourse you need a 060 and whdload works fine.
-
Been using Blizzard 060 for a long time with WHD.
No problems here.
-
@TjLaZer
I tried that, but Not the PRELOAD thing. so I will give it a shot.
I have a BLizzard 1240 @40mhz
@adonay
How do I turn off the FPU option?
-
Only a small percentage of the WHDload games I have won't work with my Blizzard 1260.
