Where are the great Amiga companies at Amiwest? This being the most major US show in years, The consortium of Eyetech, Ainc, and Hyperion have no booth or speakers at Amiwest! The sad thing is there are NO Amiga inc reps in the banquet panel. That is really a poor showing - but nothing new for Amiga inc. I was dissapointed with Amiga inc since Bill and Fleecy took over in regards to Amiga shows. They never even had a booth! They wouldnt even break down and spend $500 on a nice booth to show their support of the Amiga community. I'm sure its the same with Amiwest - no booth. I'll be suprised if Bill M shows up at all. What about Hyperion? They REALLY should be there showing OS4 - or Eyetech for that matter. At least Eyetech has exhibited at previous Amiga shows. Neither of these companies will have a presence there and its doubtful so called Amiga inc will. Genesi is coming from France with a staff and machines running the new MorphOS and the Superbundle. They will also debut the G4 (which is faster than the A1 btw) What will Ainc be doing? If Jens S from Individual computers can show where are these people? The Amiga community are tired of promises and excuses we want companies that deliver, and Genesi delivers! I'd like to hear from these companies that blast Genesi and bbrv all the time to justify why they arent going to be there. Lets also get the truth out about OS4 development and timelines as well.

Everyone at AI has a full dockett ;-) and won't be able to attend.
-
You are going to get SO flamed!! :roflmao:
Ok, let's keep it above the belt people. I am asking kindly in advance!
-
I think its pretty sad, but i'm sure (or at least i'm hoping) that show attendance from Eyetech and Hyperion will increase after the release of OS4.
-
I know Amiga inc officially announced Bill Mc would be at the show, but they havn't anounced he wouldn't right? Did i miss something? I mean I bought my banquet ticket because I expect to hear his speech! Ok, i lied there! I paid for the banquet to hear Wayne's speech:-P

Hi,
There should at least somebody there to represent Amiga. No discussion about that. There are enough Amiga fans out there we will give Bill a lift.

Maybe BBRV could publically offer to pay for Fleecy to fly over from the UK, to show there are 'No hard feelings'!
-
Probably only reason why AmigaINC announced that CEO of amigaINC "bill mcewen" would be there, was because of the rumours of a new CEO...
-
Hi,

Somehow I got the feeling that BBRV will offer it now since you talked about it. Yeah Bill would be that crazy.
Or get Bill there too. Well Bill seems to becoming our own Waldo. Have not seen him around in ages.

Where's Wally? :-)
However, I somewhat doubt that this thread was really necessary.

A Hyperion representative will attend AmiWest.

Not that sweet innocent me would ever say it so BBRV would, knowing full well Fleecy would decline the offer! ;-)

He lives up in Cumbria so I've been told on irc.
Not far from me really, only 45 minutes or so by car.

I'm sure (I'd hope) it was meant as humor.

Thanks for Posting Ben
My post is not a flame just factual. I would love to see you or the Friedens or someone top level there. I think You guys need to be there. Ainc needs to be there even more, especially when its in their backyard. Can you please eloborate on your post? Who is going to be your representative and what will they be doing? Will OS4 be shown by Hyperion at Amiwest? If so, in what state? With the showing off MorphOS 1.4 and JIT Trance along with Native mos apps OS4 must show something strong. Same with Ainc. Genesi is spending lots of $$ and supporting the community what is Ainc doing for us?

AROS will have several representitives there...
Anyone from the Amiga Community is an AROS representitive. :-D
-
Genesi is spending lots of $$ and supporting the community what is Ainc doing for us?
Sweet-FA at the moment.
Maybe Hyperion and Eyetech should merge, and then buy out Amino. I know that would make me buy an A1+OS4.
-
I don't know why AInc never comes to these things any more. Maybe the homeless hostel closes its doors for the night before they would get back?

I can see the scenario...
Lads: "Hi Fleecy, just thought we'd pop round for a cuppa!"
Fleecy: "Come in! Take a seat! I don't get many visitors..."
The lads sit down on Fleecy's red and white checked sofa...
Fleecy: "I'll go make the tea... but first, can you give me $50?"
Lads: "What? $50 for a cup of tea?"
Fleecy "No, $50 for membership to my tea club! The tea is free. It's just so that I know you're serious about drinking the tea, and so that I know how many cups to make."
Lads: "Not sure I like the sound of that..."
Fleecy: "It's great, really!, If you join now you will recieve a free T-shirt signifying your membership, regular newsletters updating you on the latest developments in tea technology, and a coupon entitling you to $50 off our new range of tea bags which may or may not be released at some as-yet undecided time in the future, maybe"
The lads grudgingly hand over $50 each...
Fleecy: "Thanks!"
Fleecy puts on his coat and heads for the door.
Lads: "Uh, Fleecy, where are you going?"
Fleecy: "I just have to pop out for a bit to pay some bills"
Lads: "Where is our tea?"
Fleecy: "Oh, I don't actually make the tea myself - I let someone else take care of that."
Lads: "Well where is our coupon?"
Fleecy "Oh you don't get a coupon, I was just speaking figuratively"
Lads: "Well where's our T-shirts?"
Fleecy: "Uhh.. they'll be ready in a few weeks"
The lads get up and leave... no tea, no t-shirt, no coupon, and $50 poorer.
Fleecy smiles.

I have no problem with Fleecy in any way, but I found that scenario quite funny - I hope Fleecy can see the fun in it too. :)
It cannot be fun with people bashing him left and right all the time. I still hope he's able to laugh about that one, though.
Sincerely,
-Kenneth Straarup.

Nothing more British than not only recognising your failures, but being able to laugh at them.

That was :roflmao:
Well if AInc. doesn't make a showing and the Peggy is coming in force to crank it's public relations and image for improving sales, that will give them a real advantage in showing who is serious and who is looking like vapor ware.
:-o

There will be a showing of OS4.0 at the Mr. Hardware Booth.....
plus some A1XE's for sale.
Hyperion hopes to have a Rep there.
Magnetic will you be there????
-
Kurt
Great! I'm glad Someone is showing OS4. Is it going to be running PPC native or still static 68k emulation?
I wish I could be there. I'm in the middle of a video project for nyc board of ed...
But I will be watching irc and webcam
Good luck and have fun

According to http://nicomen.com/amiwestpoll/ (http://nicomen.com/amiwestpoll/) this page, questions are gathered for Ben Hermans and Bill Buck personally (as I understend), Alan Redhouse by phone, and Bill McEwen yet unconfirmed. So at least according to the page Ben Hermans will be there.

Unconfirmed eh?
What about this?
Snoqualmie, WA 98065 - Amiga, Inc. announces that Bill McEwen the CEO of Amiga, Inc. will once again attend AmiWest.
"There is a great deal of activity going on at Amiga, and I am looking forward to sharing it all with you. We have kept ourselves focused and stayed the course toward success. I look forward to seeing all of you again in Sacramento."

President/CEO

Of course he'll be there. Amiga Inc wouldn't lie to their paying customers. ;-)

@Lando:
While thats funny, it is a little unfair, as Fleecy himself expressed concern over the coupon affair right from day one.
And no, i'm not an "AInc fanboy". I thought the coupon scheme was ludicrous, and so never bought one.
-

If that's the case, then it is a bit unfair... but what to you mean by "Concern". Did he actively encourage people to not buy them?

Hi xeron
Ok. Sorry if I offended anyone - it was just a joke. I hope that Fleecy will take it in the spirit it was intended. I've got nothing against him personally
-

I seem to remember him saying that he had doubts about the coupon scheme, as originally proposed, with regards to its legality in most of europe, and that he advised against introducing it.

That's strange. I think you are confusing Fleecy with Alan from Eyetech.
The coupon thing was a 100% AmigaInc plan, presumably by Bill McEwen. It had nothing to do with Eyetech or Hyperion.
-
Haven't you ever read "dilbert"? boneheaded ideas get implemented by top management all the time. Amiga Inc isn't a borg collective, you only need the people on top to approve an idea (even if everyone else hates it) and it will be implemented. If Bill was determined to do the coupon thing, Fleecy couldn't really stop him - all he could do was express his concern.
-
No, i'm not confusing him with Alan. I'm sure I remember people asking fleecy about the scheme because he works for Amiga, Inc. He said you'd have to ask Bill, because it was nothing to do with him, and he went on to say that he didn't think it was a very good idea.
-
Yeah I remember it as being Alan who expressed concerns too. Can't find any reference now though.

I guess it depends where "day one" is. If day one was some point a couple months down the road when everybody realized they had been swindled and weren't going to get any of the T-shirts and coupons they had paid good money for, then maybe Fleecy commented on day one. But I'm not aware that he "expressed concern," he merely denied responsibility. He replied to a questioner that the T-shirt promotion was "not his area" leaving it to the customers to hunt down some other Amiga Inc. person to talk to.
Hey! I found the quote: some interview (http://net.cciinter.net/users/amigasource/interview/int2.htm) (question 8).
In my opinion it really said something about him that he wasn't willing to stand up and take responsibility for his company even though he was of high rank.

Almost daily there are eerily striking similarities between the Dilbert cartoon and what's said on the amiga.com site. The main difference seems to be that the jokes on amiga.com aren't updated daily. I'm not sure who's parodying who.

At WOASE last year, both Fleecy and Alan said publically in thier presentations that they thought it was a crap idea. There may be MP3s floating around of it.
