Well, I've got my XE-800 on pre-order so now I want to buy a case with beauty and elegance so the outsides match the insides.
I am currently looking at www.extremeamiga.com and will probably order through them, so they can help me out with any Amiga specific issues, but I'm sure they'd order me a case from anywhere. Any ideas? For me the ideal case would be as much like the Amiga 3000's case as possible, except possibly black or silver. Small is important, but I suppose there's a limit on how small it can be and still stuff an AmigaOne board in there. Metal is good (plastic is bad). Needs to fit motherboard, video card, harddrive, and optical drive, but I'm willing to for example go with a 2.5" harddrive for example, or a thin optical drive.
Any ideas? :-? :-? :-?
-
Not an answer but a second question. Can I build this board into a laptop?
-
You could take a look at the Cooler Master ATC-600-VX2. It is expensive but nice looking. I saw it at www.newegg.com. My A1 Is going to go into an Antec 1080AMG case. Failing that try www.directron.com as they have good selection of cases.

Good selection. I'm not sure what I'm getting yet, but I know it will be aluminum with a plexiglass window for decals and case lights. I'm also going with a Raidmax aluminum supply.
My project for this box is to make a flat, makeshift lava lamp behind the plexiglass. If I can get it working the way I want, I'll post the directions. :rtfm:

OWCH! those things are HOT! What do you plan to do about the heat!
in a word: convection. Many of those cases have top vents or ports, so a clear plexiglass guide behind the lava fixture's heat source will direct it up towards the top of the case, then out.
I'm also going to (try to) engineer a tube system to blow a directed stream of air directly onto the G4 chip so I can keep it pretty and not have to put a heat sink on it. :-D

here's a case for ya:
ATECHFLASH STK-6551G GREY-CLEAR MID CASE (http://www.atacom.com/program/print_html_www.cgi?cart_id=2513122_80_60_94_72&Pagecode=1|CASX&Item_code=CASX_ATEF_65_5G&USER_ID=www)

I wanna desktop case, just like all the big box Amiga's before!
Dabs.com (Viper ATX Desktop)
Scan.co.uk (Chieftec TE10 W Desktop Case)
The Chieftec one reminds me more of an Amiga desktop case. Maybe do a bit of spray painting on them give them a bit of colour!
-
I`m are ready to go and buy one Black/server type tower with a nice sidewindow,A power supply without fan  (they cost about 90Euro)and maybe some colour light,U/V probably :roflmao: :flame: :destroy:
And of course the better quality components to my ordered XE G4: Fast, huge and quiet HD, 512Mb of Registered RAM,Sb Live! with DS 4.1 if possible
and maybe Radeon 8500,(i have also Voodoo 5 5500 from my previous mediator system,so i`ll keep until supported hw come to public) :ranting:
-
I've already ordered mine - a beige YY-0221 mini-cube. Looks great, it's also got lots of internal space.
It should be arriving in a week or so (it's heavy and the motherboard's going to take a couple of weeks anyway, so I chose ground shipping). I'm looking forward to seeing it close up :-)
-
@CodeSmith:
Sure!!! how you can think that those truck tower can be
named "Mini-cube" :-o :-o :-o.
Now you can flame me if i say that my idea of an
AmigaOne are a little more "sophisticated"
:flame::boohoo::destroy:

This topic keeps poping again and again.
I still think it would be smart if Eyetech came out with some AmigaOne case(s) that would make people recognize the thing as an Amiga.
With AMIGA on case, since they're targeting old Amiga users.
-
Take a look at the recommendations (http://www.tweaktown.com/document.php?dType=guide&dId=383&dPage=9) at Tweaktowns buyers guide.

Hi, have a look at this site:
.http://www.xoxide.com/modifiedcases.html (http://www.xoxide.com/modifiedcases.html)
My favorite one is the Acryl Towercase for AONE
(http://store4.yimg.com/I/xoxide_1715_15047312)
The best thing ->its really cheap (200$)
in comparsion with the originally announced NAYA
Towercase Design "Christo" for about 600 Euro.
For me it is to much money anyway. I´m going to build
my own Acryl Tower
-
Yeah.. But...
I hope you live in a completely dust free environment !!
I was gonna buy one of those but ..........................
The amount of shyte that builds up in my present tower was enough to put me off a completely see through case ...
I bought the Xaser 5000 with a window in the side.
-
This is far from fair!. I want one too
I`m thinking of making my own tower too. I hope to one day. Though when I get my AmigaOne I will just get it in a standard case I think.
-
How about this Nick ....

or ... (http://image.ebuyer.com/P0042103_C0000023_P0000000.jpg)
This is a real cheapy at £18 !!

I guess it looks pretty big in the picture, but it's only 30cmx30cmx40cm (the front is square, so it's a 'deep cube').

Could I insert AmigaOne G4 in my A4000 desktop case if I fix the back aluminium for the ports?
Does anyone knows if this is possible?
-
@the_editor
Have you noticedd that in ebuyers terms and conditions it states that if they can't deliver your package then they can sell it!
Plus you have the fact that they won't deliver to anything other then the registered address of the card holdedr for the first time. The only way that I can GARANTEE that I will be in is on a saturday, and there is no way that I am paying £20 for that just so that they can make sure I am not being fraudulent. It is almost as much as what I would like to buy!
It also doesn't say which carrier comapny they use, i mean if it is Royal Mail or ParcelForce then either of them will hold the package for about a week, but it looks like if I don't answer the door the guy will shrug his sholders send it back to ebayer and still charge me for it!
They don't even have an email that I can use, have to register to use thier enotes or what ever they call it.
Needless to say, I won't be buying from them!
OK :ranting: over now! :-D
-
@Dagon
I can't see why not, as long as there is enough height to accomidate the expansion cards and you are handy with a hacksaw! :hammer:
-
I'm with AmigaMac.
That case is on my top list.
Or...
Cheiftec Dragon Midi-Tower (Blue/Black)
or...
Cooler Master ATC 500-SX1
or...
Cooler Master ATC 610-GX1 (Desktop)
or
something else ;-)
-
Ugh? Those cases suck! :-D Nothing like the iMac blue tower case.
-
Hmmm...What we need is a nice amiga logo (sticker) into case! Those thick square ones (about inch x inch) are quite good and cheap to manufacture.
I just hope Eyetech / Amiga will supply those with every motherboard. :-)
-
@mz
What,do you mean like this one?

If memory serves i think that Eyetech are going to be including one with the mobo.
-
I'm gonna have some great fun when i get some money and an A1
-
Couldn't wait any longer... Bought this one...
I know it looks a bit like a G4 case but then it is a G4! :-D
-
<>
I love this case.
It's better for me than the original one cause it's
got 2 intergrated drive covers.
One for CD-Rom/DVD-Rom.
And the other for CD-R,-RW/DVD-R,-Ram.
This is one of the few cases, from the masses I've seen,
that has style.Even though it's nicked.<>
But if yer gonna nick, nick from the best!
;-)

I bought a V770K from my local PC Retailer.
Blue Clear Perpex with Aluminium Effect Paint Behind. Transparent Side Panel with cold sound activated blue cathode inside....
mmmmm nice
There is a small picture of it at the url below

:-P :-P :-P :-P

No they arn't!
Eyetech said they are supplying a sticker of OS 4 with Amiga OS 4, not the mobo
-

Oh, a brother in spirit ;-) Mine is black though ... and already standing next to me. Its 34cm x 34cm x 45cm(with plastic front; 40cm without) by the way ... and it doesnt only look big :-o
Anyway, its an awesome case! :-D

Ahhh, I thought something was said like that! Thanks for the correction! :-)
-
What,do you mean like this one?
Yeah...not bad at all! :-)
Althought text "Amiga" should be enuff!
:-D
