I have seen TVPaint Junior advertised on some mags.........where the heck can I get this? this must be amazing!
I suppose it works without a gfx card and needs a DCTV?
-
Well, you can try it the full deal and see for yourself. You'l need at least a RTG Amiga or an UAE setup.
And it's all legal ;-)

right - just to completely clarify - this is the 'full' TVPaint version, not TVP Jr. (wasn't aware there was such a product, actually). And remember you have to have a graphics card to run it - it doesn't work on even AGA or standard Amiga graphics chipsets, meaning you need a Picasso IV, Picasso II, Cybervision, etc. - meaning likely a towered A1200 or big box Amiga....?
hope this helps.

Are you sure you are not thinking of DCTV Paint, which has/had a big following?
-
@everyone
Nope...........There definitely seems to hav been a TVPaint JR wich seems to NOT have required a gfx card......... think it was supposed to work with the DCTV (an probably the Piccolo.
Look on Google and it will come up.
I know about the Full version of TVPaint...........I can't use that........I need the DCTV version.
-
You're aware that you might as well need to sell one (or two) kidney(s) to get one DCTV, aren't you?
-
It is actually possible to run TVPaint on aga. I've done it. You need to get a hold of the EGS version of tvpaint. Then you can run EGS system. but using AGA rather than a gfx card, and then you can run tvpaint. Of course, it dithers, but still very useable to create/edit 24bit images.

Oh. and..

;-)
I've got the EGS/RETINE/PICASSO version also if anyone is interested.
[edit] note the junior version states its for piccolo. Not sure about dctv.

@ Pixie
You're kidding. Why are they so valuable? Are people using them in "modern" ways beyond their intended purpose?
-
well, I can give mine to an interested party for 50$ + shipping ...
or your kidney. your call :)

@buzz
Thanks man! I cant wait to try that!
where can i get this EGS system? I want the TVPAINT EGS verison if you got it plus the EGS system i need to run to get it working.
@pixie
DCTV's are not hard to get, there is a couple on eBay right now. unless you are referring to the Y/C (s-video) version.....I also have the RGB adaptor......now thats rare! but it is essential if you want to genlock with it......although the colors get more washed out through the genlock....anyone else got this porblem?
@Tenacious
The DCTV is awesome! get one! I currently use it for Live visuals for parties. You can create amazing video and animation with it in 16 million colors on ECS or AGA. Especially if you use quicktime animations that you convert into DCTV.
you will need ADPRO and AnimWorkshop to batch convert the files. 736x240 in 4 bitplane DCTV mode.
the DCTV fools the Amiga into thinking it is running 16 or 8 color pictures (which it actually is running) but the DCTV decodes them as 16million colors.
you can even use the X-Specs 3D with DCTV images.
by the way......how is that extra MASPlayer you got recently working for you? I just got one too. the MP3's play fine.
-
Doh!..did I read correctly that some one is looking for a DCTV?...don't need a kidney, but moolah will do..Tony..
Thanks A-Org!

Hi leirbag,
I have a DCTV already, I was fishing for new uses and better ways to get more out of it. I've used it for frame-grabbing. I need to set up a lower spec'ed system to play with peripherals like this.
The MASplayer is the safest way to go, you already know that the software works as advertized. I wonder if there has been a run on these now that there is a new supply.
