I want to open my CPS-500 Power Supply so I can try to repair it. It has screws on the bottom which I removed but I cannot separate the cover. It appears that there arerivets holding the top of the case on. How do I remove those?

Be careful opening PSU's. They are not made to be serviced by people because they hold a charge in them even after being unplugged and could give you a good jolt if not careful. Best thing to do is buy a new one or one that is comparable. Far as removing rivets, they are used as not to be removed and it is advised that you dont, but if you must a flathead screwdriver against the head of them and a small hammer can remove them. Keep in mind that the other end of the rivet can fall into the inner part of the PSU. Cheers!!!

The thing has been in storage for 10 years... it couldnt hold a charge that long. I just hate to toss it because it is a nice piece of hardware.

Oh ok yeah 10 yrs is a pretty long time, i was thinking it just died out. The only way you can really get rivets out is by the way I described above with a flathead screwdriver and a small hammer. Put the screwdriver head under the rivet head and use the hammer to pop it. Good Luck repairing it. Cheers!!!
