Title: G-Rex 4000D and TV card questions
Post by: Flashlab on November 25, 2007, 12:31:28 PM
Some questions about G-Rex and TV cards:

1. What TV card is best for G-Rex? What chipset is best?
2. Can you use the card to have WHDLoad games on your WB? Can you get them full screen as well?
3. What software is available for all of this?

Thanks! I looked on the GREX page and there's Visionary mentioned; is that the only program?

Anyone have an answer on question 2?

Not possible because old Games don't use Multitasking and therefore Workbench is frozen.

I understand but what if you start the TV program before WHDLoad and then start the game?

For Mediator there's a topic about this here (http://www.amiga.org/forums/showthread.php?t=32797).

Is something like that not possible with G-Rex?

You should be able to TV card any WHDload program as long as the PCI drivers don't reset the graphics card. I did a long description of how and why this works in another thread earlier.

It's basically possible because the TV card and the graphics card work independently of the rest of the system, so no multitasking is required - all that's necessary is a busmastering-capable PCI bridge.
